Welded diff?

Eh, a welded 240 diff is fine, as long as it is welded right. Clean the hell out of the diff, because you can't weld oil, and it will contaminate the weld. Then run a bead between the gears, but not too thick. Then cut some steel bar into little pieces that are the same size at the gear teeth and lay them between the gears, to fill the gap. Weld them down with the torch, and then lay more beads over the top (more filler) to fill the rods to the gears, and it should hold. Mine did in the old S13.

akuma s14
08-11-2007, 02:05 PM
well since all you guys are like " omg wtf only 1 course!" I will take some time to clarify a few things.

There will be a 3rd gear possible drift course. This will combine the two 2nd gear courses like voltron to make one awesome 3rd gear course. There will still be a gymkana course as well. (that makes 2 courses if you need help counting!)
The event will not be crowded because there is a cut off for registration.

Hope this clears up the questions that you had.

Well. These are the last images my Nikon will ever capture. Camera is kaput, corrupted images, deleting random files, shutter button seems to have a 3 second delay, no flashes work, random exposure, dirtiest sensor ever.

Anyway. Here's what I got for the hour the damn thing worked.

08-20-2007, 08:15 PM
it makes a world of difference...

i still spun out a lot... but towards the end of the day, i was able to pretty much link the whole small course...

i didn't know what i was doing wrong cuz i would clutch kick and initiate.. then i'd be sideways, then even though i stayed on throttle... my car would grip then i'd understeer until i either e-brake or clutch kicked again...

Sounds like you were letting the revs drop too low to keep the rear spinning. Give it another clutch kick middrift to get the wheels spinning again. Low power cars sometimes require multiple clutch kicks to keep the drift going. It's good practice to learn this because you have to do the same with turbocharged cars when you are off boost and waiting for the turbo to spool.
