View Full Version : How to tell S14/S15 SR20 harness apart?

This is really confusing so please bare with me. I bought a Zenki S14 SR20DET motorset, the guy sent me a sr20det harness. I know it is not a zenki s14 sr20 harness. I cannot plug my other WC ecu from my other car and the maf plug is the newer kouki/s15 maf plug. So I open the ecu (Mine's ecu) the ecu inside has a stamp saying S15 M/T etc. So I am pretty much lost, I am trying to upgrade to a power fc. My question is, is there any way to tell the difference between Kouki S14 SR20DET and S15 SR20DET harness's. Or if there really is a big difference?

if you have a zenki motorset that is the power fc you want. if you have a kouki motorset then you need the kouki power fc. wire the car stock and then upgrade powerfc makes troubleshooting much easier

no you seemed to missed my question. I have a Zenki S14 SR20DET Block and Head. Which does'nt really matter. I have either a S14 Kouki and S15 SR harness. I am asking if there is a way to tell the difference, between the two.

S14 kouki and S15 harness are the same...atleast that was the way it was explained to me as far as buying a PFC for my car. The way to tell between the kouki 14 and 15 tho is the color of the plug where the ECU connects. I cant tell you what it is since my car is in the shop right now. I think the plugs white for S15 harness. Im looking at the number of pin outs on my FSM. from left to right, First group should have 16 pins (8 pairs) then 14 pins (7 pairs), Locking bolt, then 16 pins again (8 pairs) and then 18 pins set (9 pairs).
S14 kouki and S14 zenki plugs are different...so you cant just re-pin it or anything like that.

the difference comes in the lower part of the harness including trans and rear speed sensor differences other than that i am not sure since i have a zenki all the way through

thanks, the ecu plug i have is white.
Also the other info I got was S14 and S15 engines are the same...so aslong as the harness and ecu match, you shouldnt have a problem. S14 zenki harness with zenki ECU. S15 harness with S15 ECU...

but you can do kouki harness > s15 ecu or s15 harness w/ kouki ecu??

Easiest way to tell if your harness is a S14 SR or S15 SR harness is if you have a connector for an ignitor. If you have an ignitor chip you have a S14 motor and harness. As far as I know the only difference with controlling the engine would be the way the injectors are scaled, abs is controlled, a few other smaller things, etc. Obviously the S14 would be scaled to 370cc and the S15 SR Spec R would be scaled for 448cc injectors.
If you have an S14 motor get a S14 ecu and vice versa. With the Power FC you can not downgrade your injectors (ie. buying a S15 Power FC and telling it you have 370cc injectors, raising to %120).
