I just put on my fmic, left the bumper (91) off till tomorrow, just trying to decide how to cut the bumper - I want to let the whole intercooler get as much air as possible...my friend did his like this:

anybody else have a picture of what they've done with theirs?

just trim the inside ducting with an angle grinder/cutoff wheel until it is flush up against the I/C. Make sure you dont jam it on, but test, cut, test, cut. You want the ducting to keep directing air at it.

what we want to know is how much people cut out of it. how high did others go and what does it look like on the long nose and round nose?

thats different i see that on honda's but in the back bumper. they say that the back bumper acts like a parachute so they cuts holes like that in the rear bumper. my car is the one that i posted originaly and i was thinkin about cuttin the intire size of the i/c out cause it is realy fucking big. and wanted to get more air but dont wana loose my areodynamics.

ugh, don't do that lol.

there was a german member here that did some really nice cutting for ducting on his front bumper... but i can't remember his name.

I don't like the cut bumpers, thats why I did the holes. Not many people like it, but I don't care.

my i/c is about the same size as yours oes but min is wider but just as tall. i just wana get more air to it cause im goin to be running 19 psi now instead of 12 and i want to keep it cooler.

19psi huh?

I dont think exchanging the air temp any faster is going to do anything for you. What is the octane and ethanol percentage of the fuel you will be running, I smell trouble....

i run 93 on 800cc injectors im not realy sure how much ethanol is in gas around my way but i think its 10%.

when i get to the track ill be back on 110 at the same boost level

Here is my old setup with the stock front bumper... I just took a dremel and trimmed it up a bit..

Not the best cutting job, but it worked for the time being...
Hope this helps a little!

Just save for a body kit and get one that has a bigger hole in the front..that way you're killing to birds with one stone! :)

Did that make your car MR too? :naughty:

That sucks, did the engine ended up sitting on the passenger side seat?

Heart shaped cutouts are scientifically proven to cool 20x more efficiently.

Honestly, i wouldnt worry too much about hacking up the bumper. So long as its not totally restricted, i'd spend my time on making some ducting for the IC.

don't bother cutting it. it'll look like ass, you probably won't notice a difference, and if you're getting aero this winter, just wait until then. now if you run into heat soak issues on the track, that's a different matter.
