You can always pay at the track, but we prefer payment ahead of time. We can reserve your spot for sure, and it helps give us an idea of how it will turn out. I know that this event will be much larger than our last one. We got some good media coverage and lot more interests in the event :) I will still cap out the event at 35 cars.

I think I'm going to make it to this one. Depends on whether or not I get my wiring back together and my suspension actually set up. I'm not taking out any wiring that's important so that should be easy and the suspension setup just requires me to stop being a lazy shite.
Oh, and if I'm doing OK as far as school goes... I don't even know if I got into CSUF and it's like a week and a half away, lol.
Girlfriend wants to see me drive/go for a ride on the track.

Hello HTM is a nice track, just stay within your levle & gradually work the speed up. The sweeper can be intimidating at first until you get the line down.It is slightly decreasing radius with a cliff on the outside. Then the downhill , DO NOT DO NOT overshoot this corner. You will understand once your there. The rest is all second gear.
I gotta hurry up & redo my entire cooling system, damn time is flying by. SEE YA THERE:w00t:

I was just about to type up a reply just like this. HTM is a great track, you just have to take it easy and not push yourself to the limit immediately... which is what I did.
I want to go again, but I have a little bit of fear in the back of my mind now and I don't trust myself... haha but if funds allow, and I can get work off, I will definately try to make it to this one.
I'll have my welded diff in for this event too, if I make it.. which leads to a question I have...
Will having a welded diff in my car make it hard for me to grip HTM?

Hello ,well in terms of a welded diff,I have one in my car. It can make being quick hard if you do not have a good feel for when you start to overdrive the front tires and/or burn off the rears. Also the other quirk with the LINCOLN LOCKER ,is that on sweeping corners that require a constant throttle application you will naturally pick up a push, then if you give it more throttle your gonna get snap oversteer. (NOTE all of this depends on total car setup how bad or good it can perform). Also depending on the grip levle available you cant get on the throttle as soon on corner exit, as a real LSD cause all of your slip coms from actuall wheel spin, wich doesnt move you forward(loss of time). IMHO you gotta know how to work the tires/drive it, to be as quick as an equally prepared car/driver with a properly functioning LSD.:bigok:
For a tight /small course like this its OK, but I was on BIG WILLOW & turn 8 & 9 with the LINCOLN LOCKER is a NO GO,you can not be fast cause the car constantly wants to step out on you in a 5th gear sweeper:ugh: :ugh:

awesome advice guys, thanks,i'll try not to go too crazy on this course, anyon know how the track will be after the drift group has gone?more slick?tire chunks everywhere or what? big willow has always seemed too crazy or scary for me haha a mess up going at those speeds without a roll cage, i wouldn't want to risk it but thats just me.

lol Bryan I haven't been to a track event in forever and I am going insane! Hell, I rarely drive the 240 since I bought a daily and every day it gives me puppy eyes as if to tell me that I'm a gigantic assbag for driving the lame BMW over it.
Driving HTM for the first time is like driving an unfamiliar mountain for the first time, so drive it like that and get a feel for it. Afterwards, it's no problem at all.

Upon entering Willow springs main gate...you can either go left towards the balcony... then follow the route down hill... then left onto HTM's entrace....
or you can make a right past big willow towards then left towards streets then follow the route to make a right onto HTM's entrance....

yeah oops i dont know why i kept saying yaris lol i saw some crazy cars out there today and was all scared but on the track most of them were pretty slow and this was the first time i've ever driven a rearwheel drive car at the track and the first time at horsethief, very fun though i racked up like 100+ miles of track miles until they started to join drift and grip and i didn't want someone to hit my car so i called it quits and went home haha
brainfood
09-08-2007, 08:31 PM
lol drifters arent that crazy, I would worry more about grip drivers hitting you. seriously
I posted this on ziptied figured I would post it here too.
Just so everyone knows. Event was lots of fun even in the fit.
Highlights:
Ryan man'd up and came out and tore it up after a little coaching and some ziptie ebrake modding.
I drifted the FIT (big suprise  )
I am just as fast or faster in a stock FIT with 90whp as most of the other grip drivers out there. Sad! :punchballs:
Mark totaled his car :( It was super sad!! at least most of the mechanicals are all good so I am sure swapping to a new chassis wont be too bad.
I linked htm downhill section with a stock motor corolla on the first try. Well almost not enough power to do the rest of the corners but I linked the downhill straight. Mark also did :poojar:
I think you all missed out that weren't there.

Some guy had a silver wrx that would not let me pass after tailing his ass for like a good 15 laps or so , he knew i was faster but just didn't want to let me go, made me pretty angry haha but o well, i tried to chase that yellow s2000 and the crazy pink expensive looking widebodied 350z but that CAR is crazy, I learn that you can have a crazy car but without a crazy driver you get nowhere haha

that sucks about the WRX, but keep in mind that there are HOT pits, if you want to not have to tail gate him for 15 laps just pull into the hot pits give him 3/4 of a lap and take off again
and it's not the crazy FIT it's the crazy DRIVER in the fit!

haha i want to start seeing more 240sx grip driving man, i was the only one out there and felt all lonley haha at the very end of the day the combined grip and drift when i was still on the track i didn't even know what was going on, i saw random people drifting and some guy spunout right infront of me and i almost hit him haha that was scary, any word on pictures of videos?

How did it happen? Did he spin and hit the burm or what?

^^ hahaha yeah i dont doubt that or doubt that both of you are faster than me haha hopefully i can learn something and be able to go faster and faster each time, this was the first time i've driven a rearwheel drive car at the track so it took some getting used to as opposed to the civic haha but i like it so far, that guy on ziptied SASHA i think? is my freaking motivation haha

Bryan, as always, thanks for the compliment. I want to see the Fit in action!
Grip is what I run... usually.
I'm hoping to be making 145whp by the track day lol.
UnitedMaster- If I can manage to be stingy, I'll have a splitter, canards and a wing.
If I'm not gonna spend much on power, I'm gonna make as much grip as I can.

hmmm. Will be nice to have another 240 gripping it... I'm just about the only 240 gripping at the events i've been to.
Not to flame, but i seriously doubt this "downforce" will be of much help at horsethief... Big willow/the streets... MAYBE.
Oh yeah.... ^^^^^^^ What rims/tires (size and brand of tires) are you running?

haha I have the same power probably as you KA24DESOneThree (http://www.zilvia.net/f/member.php?u=21506), I just have intake header exhaust, but running big heavy show rims haha my car isn't tuned or anything and the fuel system or something is messed up and i idle like crazy when it gets hot haha I will try to learn from you so i can become a better driver haha it would be cool to compete on a national level one day. I want some pictures or videos from the event!! haha

17x9 +15s CEs front/ same size TEs rear with 245/40R17 RE01-Rs.
Downforce always helps. There was a very competitive S13 hatch autocross car which utilized only a relatively small rear wing.

yeah we're going to do that demo at HIN... still trying to figure out how we are going to trailer amanda's car up there... but ya... justin put us on the driver's list...
240sx drifts on its own thats why there aren't that many 240sx that grip...
i do have a friend who went to the last SRT trackday but missed this one... he grips his black s14 kouki 240sx like it had an SR... but its a stock KA too... :)
he is so fast that the camera guy can barely catch up to him...
http://www.thespeedlounge.com/azcms/photos/51/preview/DSC_4961.JPG
http://www.thespeedlounge.com/azcms/photos/51/preview/DSC_4821.JPG
so fast that his SPL tie-rods would just snap at him:
http://www.thespeedlounge.com/azcms/photos/51/preview/DSC_5057.JPG
so fast that he got to replace his tie-rod and tie-rod ends in less than 15 minutes and got himself back on the track in 30 mins flat...

The z was/is a show car its all stock I beleive. Looks nice though. It could have been faster I am sure I was keeping up with it in the fit but I imagine it was his first time on the track and props for getting out there and driving.
Yeah those damn drifters made a huge mess. Seems like worse than normal. Might just seem that way though because I wasnt drifting so I noticed the dirt more.

Were you there when an S2k showed up with a bumper taped like in picture 9 then went off the track into a berm and destroyed the front end? The irony was a little funny, even if I felt really bad for the guy.
You guys were running the "safe" way.
Is that RSX on R-comps?
S14SwimShark105
09-12-2007, 09:53 AM
That rsx I believe had some falken rt615's all around, nice looking car and stuff though,I couldn't fit bridgestone re-01r's in the front of my car so I was running with 225/35/18 tire which is pretty lowprofile and I checked my rims yesterday and those rocks left behind by the drifters jacked up my rims haha major deep scratches and even on the inside of one wheel was completely bent!:( Dont go to the track with lowprofile tires and show wheels lol
