Would any one be interested in Aluminum drive shafts For 240's? I was thinking of having one made but if i got a few at a time it would most likely be cheaper. So if i could get them between $4-500 would anyone be interested?
Id probably wouldn’t buy one, but I’m still interested. I have talked with a few companies about driveshafts for the 240sx and most of them said they can’t make one because our driveshafts are two piece. Let me know what you find out and where your having these made. Id be extremely leery on buying a driveshaft from just anyone, it would have to be from reputable name in driveshaft manufactures.

Well I had some work done to a friends corvette drive shaft and when i picked it up I noticed he has some custom jeeps and race cars there so I asked him if he could make aluminum drive shafts to hold up to 450hp he said that would be no problem. I just need to take him a drive shaft from the junk yard But he definately seems to know what he is doing. I just wanted to see if anyone else was interested.

What does he plan on charging, and can he make them out of anything lighter.... cf(like gran turismo <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> ) or maybe kevlar or something lighter but equally or greater in strenght?? Keep me posted, it sounds intriguing.

I have heard many bad things about CF driveshafts. Iwon't go into detail but unless you are a serious drag racer saty away from the CF.
Aluminum is better, just make sure the guy knows what he is doing for this particular application.

in all seriousness - does this only help by not breaking under high hp?

I think they're lighter than the stock metal ones, probably by a significant amount... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

yes, same effect as a lightweight flywheel, accept a little more pronounced.
