I used to have one on my M3 and loved it-
http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/html_product/clutch_stop/pics_clutch/big_boy.jpg
It goes in the stock location of the rubber stopper under the clutch pedal, and eliminates the dead area before the clutch grabs.
So.. does anyone make em for our cars?

dont think ive seen any company make one.. but you should be able to fab one yourself. looks like a piece of rubber with a stud and nut on it.
so does this help make drive your manual car easier? so the clutch pedal doesnt go all the way back up? i dont see the point of this device.

never heard of such a thing, but then again why use it??? looks pointless considering every clutch and setup grabs differently... plus what would it give you?

Hello FR PILOT,you can ADJ it so that you eliminate that lil bit of dead spot in the clutch pedal travle,so that you only have to push in the clutch just enough to make a smooth gear change. In return you get less dead time in between shifts,as far as the clutch side of it goes. It does help,I made one for my car,& also lots of PORSCHE production based race cars have this too.

my clutch already has almost no dead travel, and i don't think i'd want any less that that

I can see why it would be useful. It stops the clutch pedal from going all the way to the floor, or where ever it stops, making shifting a little quicker. like this
STOCK: You push in the clutch to disengage it, but you still travel 1.5 inch after it disengages (about what I have). This slows you down
With stopper: YOu push the pedal in. It disengages, and your foot travels another 1/4th inch. the pedal doesnt have to travel as far to engage and disengage the clutch.

you can adjust that dead area with the rod and then adjust the top stopper, which is the disengage switch.

I just thought of something. There is a safty switch behind the 240sx's clutch pedal which needs to be pushed to start the car. That stopper might be more trouble than its worth unless your a serious racer with a purpose built car (not street, like drag or drift or something)
or you dont want to have to push in the clutch to start your car.

hmm, ill look into this.
I love not having to push my clutch in to start my car. I am fine with this cause I do not ever let anyone other then me and my dad get close to the car with keys or drive it.

Bahhh, you just jump the wires on the safety switch together. MT cars used to start w/o the clutch pushed in, that is just extra junk.
Like stated above, simply adjusting the rod on the pedal will get you closer to what you want, but really the stop helps in not having to start from the top all the way down to the bottom.
On my DD i have the pedal adjusted almost half dead. I almost only my ankle to depress the clutch. It works for me. If you have short legs the stop would be great.

i already spliced my clutch switch lines so it can start without the clutch depressed

stopper goes to the floor not on the bracket.

looks like we are stuck making them ourselves.
if i come up with a foolproof way to make one, would anyone be interested in buying one?

I say remove the clutch sensor and put a stopper in there. I'll take pics tomorrow.

i bypassed both my clutch switches, and pulled out the stock stopper, i'm gonna either find something that fits in the same hole or add height to the stock stopper.

You can do that with a bolt in place of the clutch interlock switch, I've seen people do that for years on all kinds of cars without buying a 'stopper'. I'm surprised no one knew this already.

Remove this:

So you have this:

Find a bolt that fits this:

Then back it out to fill this gap:

There is no need to make anything.
Just adjust the engagement nut/bolt.
My car has zero free play and I can engage the clutch with only a couple inches of movement.

I adjust mine so that it has about .5 inch before dissengaging and i set the pedal motion to be 2-3 inches before it hits the floor. That is my stop
