painting wheels?

Im about to buy a FN with a black face and paint it white to match the 3 others I have.....I just want to make sure that the 4th wheel will come out the same because the original coating is black and the other 3 I have started off silver...this question probably sounds pretty dumb but I wasnt sure if its possible to sand off the original coating or if the black would act as a base coat and make the wheel come out darker....someone please clarify then Ill delete this thread

ive seen couple of people stripped all the paint from the wheel, making it just metal silver, not hyper black or w/e
but im not sure what color of wheel they started off with

so some heavy grit sand paper should do the job?

if the face is in good shape ( no chips or flakes)there is no need to use a heavy grit. if the face is fine use a 400, then just put down a couple coats of grey primer..fallowed by your white..it will be perfect
