Ok i have a 91' s13with a sr swap, greddy fmic, hks bov, downpipe, apexi n1, and a walbro fuel pump. I bought the car from a friend and it had a miss fire. Pulling the plugs it was easy to see the car was running extremely rich; the black smoke when on the throttle was also a give away. I replaced the plugs as a start with ngk copper plugs from a 92' se-r, I know they aren't the 3330's everyone recommends but its what i could get without having to special order. This did nothing to help the car. Next i checked all the coil packs, they were all providing spark (due these things really partially fail?), next I moved to the maf sensor. I cleaned it out and reinstalled, the car ran better, so i figured i'd really clean it since i just half assed it the first time, and thats when the car really started running like total crap. I cleaned it using brake cleaner and allowing to dry. It is now missing so bad it will chirp the tires it shakes so violently when in the throttle. This starts right around 3,000 rpms. The other weird thing is the tac needle starts bouncing at around the same rpm. The car also upon intial start up will die if you press the throttle (has anyone ever seen an idle air control valve go bad?). So I got a maf sensor off a 91-93 ka from a friend, and the car won't even idle using that. Do i need a sohc maf sensor to use with a red top? Also i've heard stuff about corrosion in the connector, but mine looks fine. I almost wanna say its a tps gone bad, but i was just looking for some insight anyone has before i start throwing parts at the car. Thanks
