I have an E5 ecu and it doesn't have any LED's on the comp. I drive a 97 s14 kouki. Can anyone help me out? I don't have the check engine light hooked up yet either. I know that there is knob on the ecu that you spin around to initialize the diagnostic mode, but what do I use to check for codes?

you can download pretty much all FSMs from this website
http://skylineking.com/fsm/S14_SR20DET_FSM.pdf

check out the EC section of the FSM. should be around page 30-38 in the EC section.

i think you have to turn the know all the way to the left, then all the way to the right to activate code checking if i'm not mistaken. but before doing so, download the FSM and read it.

Well the ECU should have an LED light that you can peek into. Put your key in the ignition, put it to on but dont start the car. Turn the screw all the way to the right for a few seconds, put it back all the way left and the LED should start blinking. Count how many long and short blinks it has, those are the codes. Look it up against the FSM to figure out what it is.

That only works on the redtops and earlier year sr's. I don't know how you do it on the later years. They don't have the screw.

I thought you couldnt use a consult because the diagnostic port isnt part of the wiring for the sr swap.
