So these T25 turbos that are supposedly rebuilt with T28 internals, how do you visually differentiate them from stock T25 turbos?
Is this even possible? or do you just have to go by the word of who ever owns it or is selling it?

Pics would definitely make it easier to distinguish. Usually when builders (someone correct me if I'm wrong) stuff bigger turbine wheels in a smaller housing there has to be some machining involved to get the larger fins to fit. Seen them done on TT Z T25's quite a few times. They may also change out the center section as well to accomodate for larger internals.

no, it's fake
Rule #1 NEVER EVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY A TURBO FROM EBAY. USED, NEW, JAPAN MADE, WHATEVER, STAY AWAY.
That should really answer your question

When they make hybrids they switch a wheel. On a t25/t28 hybrid they switch the exhaust wheel. They switch the exhaust housing to which is bigger. Looks like a hybrid. Stick to your budget but I wouldn't pay that much for a used turbo unless its name brand or I know it has low, low miles. That looks like its neither.

Really sounds like a forced performance T28. A great option for those looking for a nice upgrade.

externally looks like a t25 but with the higher flow.
