Why would you want POS NATO 5.56 rounds? 55 grains of stopping power huh? Don't waste your time with that shit.
BTW Arizona keeps them in bulk.. Road trip?

Just use .233 Rem?

Just use .233 Rem?
that will be my last resort. the .223 rounds are cased a bit diffrent, and is sometimes less accurate as the head space between the rifling and the bullet is a little less.

because my rifle uses 5.56 rounds.... 55gr is fine. i dont need 60 or 70gr rounds to go target shooting, dont really need stopping power against paper targets. Im probably going to pass on the arizona trip tho.

ill probably give them a call today and see what they have.

What gun do you have if I may ask? There are some hybrid barrels that shoot booth for the AR15.
I like the 223 cause of the higher powder loads for target.

bushmaster's m4a3 (yes its legal)... i was actually thinking about just changing the barrel out too, but since this one still has a lot of life left in it... and im a tightass with my money, ill probably just keep it for now. But for sure later.
I have parts to construct a ar15, but hate the idea of having a fixed 10rd mag, although as long as it takes a tool to release the mag, your just fine. people have been installing the 'bullet button' on their ar's to get around it.
burro canyon anyone?

Give the LA gun club a call and tell them yoru dilema.
I usually just pick up the higher gr ammo for rifle cartridges, maybe i could improve accuracy mroe by your token.
Its been a while though.
I havent kept up with laws and all the crazy bs in cali for legally purchasing ammo for particular rifles.
im sure .223 and 5.56 is on the blacklist even though it was origionally popular for varmint hunting.

Fixed Mag? Must be a cali thing cause we have these at the gun store down here:
http://www.oneclickshooting.com/prodimages/CCM000-3.jpg
$200 for 100rnds
Most people use 30rnds down here.
Look for a Barrel with a Wylde chamber or Armalite chamber to take both rounds with no loss.

California has its own seperate legislation on the books regarding magazine capacity to what way to sit while you poop in this state.

so true.
here in cali = 10rd 'fixed mag' i have a few hella old 30rd mags from back in the military days, but i never bring those out anymore. it just makes me abuse the trigger.
i guess when i build the new ar, its going to be with a .223/5.56 barrel and also a fixed mag. If they take away my telestock... i might just cry.
on a side note... is that your s14.5 on craigs?

I love how the definition of a fixed magazine is that it must require a tool to remove it. Can anyone say set screw and a allen wrench? However, I think it defeats the point of say an AR15 to be unscrewing a set screw to change the magazine or releasing the pin to load from the top. Consider yourself lucky you owned those 30 round magazines before the ban went in to place.
I would like to get out to burro canyon sometime soon. Maybe we could set something up here on Zilvia.

'bullet button' :) it replaces the mag release with a button needing a 'tool' to push and release. (tool meaning the tip of a round) hahaha..

but california law still doesnt allow for anything over 10rds.. so sad. the 10rd mags just look so lame on an m16/ar15... i mean a 20rd mag doesnt look too bad but the 10rd is just sad looking.
i will be at burro this sunday

they came in boxes of 20rds. but i had to unbox them all and put them into stripper clips.
i have however purchased 1000rd ammo cans of lakecity ammo that have come like that. it just ends up being a little bit cheaper when they dont have them boxed.

ypu would have to seriously drop the ammo can from a damn good height to get that effect. i mean if the rounds were stacked naked on top of each other and then dropped from like 5 feet, maybe it would go off. but loosely packed, the round would move around too much to hit the primer directly and make it go off.
If anyone has ever jammed their finger infront of the firing pin, they can tell you, its a damn good amount of force to set the primer off.
on a side note, my dumbarse has dropped many ammo cans during ammo resupply runs... but then i also had a friend who ended up having reconstructive surgery on his hand due someone else dropping the 50cal ammo can on his shooting hand. titanium in the hand is not fun.
