Hey guys,
Just a little bit of input needed here. I found some white 17" Kosei K1's for relatively cheap, and I've been wanting to replace my stockers. I haven't done any exterior mods to my car so I was wondering if this might look... well... a little over the top. (cough...ricer...cough)
Thanks ahead of time.

I personally like the look of white rims on a black car.

White rims look bigger on a black cars
But S13s look wierd to me with White rims. Maybe it's juss cuz I fell in love with the black on black look, but S14vaxlr8's car makes me like the white rim look.

White rims on a black car; artistically, that's great contrast.
The rims just can't help but shout out for attention!
Now, if you paint like a big circle around your headlights; you can get that panda look going on.
Now that would be cool!

I think you go look at some 240s that are black w/ white rims. If you like them then do it, if you dont then dont get them.
Its your car so do what you want to it... who cares what others think, its not like they are driving your car.
Why dont you hook us up with your contact for these rims...
Note- if you get them and dont like the look then get them paint... If its a super good deal I would get them no matter what and use them when I hit the track or go drifting.

go for it dude, come to think of it, i dont think i have seen a black car that looks bad with white wheels.
Do you have suspension work done yet? (i.e. is the car lowered at all) -- because if not, 17" rims will make your car look stupid. (really! This is something to consider before you jump on the rims, too.

I appreciate the input, and I've always loved the black and white look but I wasn't sure if it was just me. S14vaxlr8's car is a testament to how clean and refined, as well as edgy it can be.

As noble as a statement as this is, I wish I could go live by that mantra. I'm sure that you've seen a car or two that made you think what kind of acid trip was that guy on and what the f*ck was he thinking? So as much as I like the look myself, there is a small part of me as well as pretty much everybody else that wants to impress others too.

If you have an S13 this may help you decide... I don't think it looks too ricey. Now when I bought the car, thats a whole nether story. it had 5 stickers on one fender, and a GT-R emblem belw them. haha. that crap had to go. I hung onto the emblem though. Okay I know I am totaly OT rambling... But did you guys know you can get GTR emblems at checker auto parts? (or schucks for some of us) They are like 2.50 each. I thought about buying like 20 and selling them on ebay. Anyway...

I still think white look nice. White would be a good choice. I still think bronze or gunmetal will also look nice on black car too. Just my opinion.

I definitely plan on doing suspension work. What's the point of having light weight Kosei K1's if you don't have the whole package right? I'm planning on an Eibach Pro Kit with the new KYB AGX's I've been hearing so much about.

Whoever here has white rims, here's a question...
How long do they take to get dirty, and how easy are they to clean? I mean, do they stay relatively clean without polishing them every second day?

VERY QUICKLY. I do believe I have OEM pads, which I will soon be swapping out. I found if you slow the car in gear from 50-25, it helps a lot. But, still after 200 miles it's time for a cleaning. Anything past that and everyone starts ragging on me.

I wash my car about every 5-7 days, and I usually run the scrubbin mit in all the nooks 'n crannies in my rims. they are REALLY WHITE right now, as I washed my car today. And I got a cmplement from a really hot brunette, whichs makes i all even more worth while. And my freinds G/F, who saw my car a few weeks ago at night, also said it was swet. I love the damn thing...

White rims on black car sound nice to me too. However, I wouldn't buy Koseis, unless you don't care about the weight gain. Kosei is not supposed to be a very high-quality wheel.
Have you thought about gunmetal on black? That's also a nice combo.

Kosei isnt a high quality wheel... So your saying that buddy club is also a low quality wheel, considering they are made in the same factory(Info obtain via asad on FA). If the wheel was that heavy and low quality you wouldnt see it on so many SCCA\crown cars like the SM.
Now is it as light as some volk or regamaster wheels? No but those wheels cost $500 bucks a pop which most people cannot afford. Would it be cost affective or a wise choice to go touge driving\scca events or everyday driving on your volks? Its my opinion that those wheels are not cost affective state side unless you have mommy, daddy or boyfriend sporting the money or unless its going to be a show car.
Only bad thing about K1's is its offset availability.

LOL, one factory can manufacture a good rim and a bad rim. It's not about the factory: it's about the material and construction. Koseis are more for looks then for performance. I said they're okay if he doesn't care about weight gain. Everyone can go out and buy a cheap set of rims. Some people decide to wait and save a couple extra hundred bux if they feel that higher quality rims will give them more bang for their buck. Some people are more into immediate self-gratification and go with what's handed to them first. I'm not flaming either one.
Why are you acting like a kid?

K-1's... the P-1's of APC champions!! (just kidding... really i am)
anyways.... gunmetal on black =
I was under the impression that the Kosei K1s WERE the Buddyclub P1s... aren't they!? I was under the impression that americans just wouldn't buy a wheel made by a company called "buddyclub" because having a buddy club sticker on your rear quarter-window might attract some... uh... VERY unwanted MALE-specific-attention.
Sort of how they renamed "Calpis" to "Calpico" for the US market.
Or are Koseis actually manufactured differently than the Buddyclubs??

I may just be talking out of my ass, but every Kosei rim I've ever picked up weight just as much as what it was seated next to at the local rice shop: a konig rim...

ever pick up K-1's??
I remember reading that K-1's and P-1's were supposed to be the same.... a friend of mine disagrees, and i'm too lazy to look it up.

Kosei K1's are actually a very nice wheel IMHO. They're light and strong. My friend has a pair of 15's on his GSR. He uses them as his AutoX/Roadcourse wheels. Sure they don't have the chrome or flawless finish that you can get with say... a Volk or SSR, but for the money I don't see how you can beat them.
edit: I'm only talking about the K1's here. As with Volk's TE37s, I doubt all of Kosei's wheels are as light as their K1's.

According to Wheelspecs.com... (I'm not sure how reliable of a source they are...) but the 17" K1's weigh only 16.7 lbs.
That sounds pretty damn light to me. But I'm still a 240 newb. How much do stock S14 SE rims weigh?

They're saying they never stock K1s, so I don't know what else was it that I could have picked up, unless it was a knock-off Kosei.
16.5 is pretty good. What I picked up weighed at least 19-22lbs. Very traditional.

damn... 22lbs...? That sounds like a chrome 23"! Can anybody else verify the 16.7lb weight I found? Tnord has them right? I have seen a lot of knock offs of the K1's, with no recognizable brand name on them.
These rims would be mostly for show however, as I don't have another car if I bust mine auto x-ing. But I'm into performance enough that I realize the benefits of a lighter, larger diameter (less sidewall), larger width (more contact area), rim and tire setup. I'd probably put some Kumho 712's on them, 215/45ZR, and keep the stockers for the bad months... being October to April here in Mass.
