Ok so a few weeks ago my car started missing slighty....about one a day maybe if that....It drives fine at low RPMs and fine at WOT. Interstate driving tho was iffy it would miss here and there but didnt seem to be to bad. Also at a stop the whole car shakes.

Well after a few weeks of driving like that it started to get a lil worse so i figured i'd do a complete tune up on it to see if that would help and go from there.

I went to the store and bought some Mobile 1 High Mileage...bought a mobile 1 Oil filter....brand new spark plugs and new spark plug wires...changed all that out.

Next day i drove to Pensacola with my girlfriend...its about a 2 hour drive from where i live. The whole way there the car drove fine...didnt miss didnt shake at red lights none of that happened and i also drove there with my ac on the whole time. Drove back from florida..another 2 hours.. and car drove fine still no problems at all.

Since about wednesday...the same problems have come back but now they are worse....car misses worse than it did and it seems to lag a little sometimes when going in 1st gear and it will miss a lot and car has started to shake again at the red light.

I dont know what to do now im thinking to change out my fuel filter and just generally clean up parts like the injectors and maf.

I would like some opinions tho because im sure someone on here has had the same problems with their KA at one point and i wouldnt wanna buy parts or waste time doing stuff that wouldnt help me out.

Its a 95 ka24de..thanks for any help.

Its probably a good idea to do the fuel filter. The prob could also possibly be the fuel pump or even the dizzy.

Edit: are you throwing any codes?

is there a way to check and see if any of those are the culprit?

Well, the fuel filter is cheap and easy to change, never a bad idea to replace really. The fuel pump can be checked with a multimeter. You can find the correct voltage range in the fsm or i can grab them for you if you need.

Im not sure how to check a distrib. or the cps myself.

Have you checked for any codes? sometimes a code can be thrown without having the check engine light on

check engine light has been on ever since i got the car...people at nissan checked it and said it was the MAF so i changed that out and the light has not been off yet. iono whats up with that.

this is the only time car has been running like this since i swapped the old KA out....there are a number of things i could do i just wanted to see if people had any similar problems before i go on a shopping spree.

thanks for the input

Try your knock sensor. its a bitch to get to it but it sounds like you're having issues with the knock sensor.

If you've got a CEL on then you might have OTHER problems not related to the MAF. The faulty MAF you had might have caused you to throw more codes. Kinda like a domino effect. Happened to me, MAF code lead to Cam position sensor code, which lead to new distributor. All found during smog.... :(

ok well now when i try to floor it car lags like a bitch and seems to backfire slightly when idle..and idle is rough..fluctuates up and down almost non stop....

should i just go ahead and replace the distributor and fuel filter?

i would go ahead and replace the maf to but that was given to me by a friend about a week after he bought it brand new...he went with 300zx maf and didnt need it anymore so i doubt its that.

damn this is making me mad it sorda seems to get worse by the day and periodically it will act like its getting better than all of a sudden wont....also dash lights flicker sometimes to...just to throw that in there.

damn good thread man. I dont mean to jump in but im having the same problem too. Well mine happened just after i swapped out the stock intake for an AEM short ram. Now my check engine light wont turn off and it idles kinda funny too. Hmmm. do you have an aftermarket intake on your car?

check your injectors. I had the same problem with my car after i replaced my injector o-rings. it was the #1 injector, it wasnt firing quite right. Caused a lot of shaking, and it was really boggy. I just tweaked the wires a little, and the injector started again, and it ran fine. turn it off, adjust the injector a little, then turn it back on. its kinda a trial and error kind of thing... just twist it, toggle the wires, what ever. check to see if one of the injectors is clogged as well. if anything go buy a bottle of injector cleaner.

well mine has the same problem only it never throws codes. one days it will fun perfect the next day major bog/hesitation/backfiring whatever you want to call it. i am highly stumped but you are not the only one going through it. sucks

i just messed with the injectors that seemed to fix it to a certain extent but i havent driven the car yet or bought injector cleaner.

it may be bad gas also..when i rev the car little clouds of black smoke comes out the exhaust and reaks of gasoline so maybe that could be it...tomorrow ill buy the injector cleaner and fill my tank with premium and let you guys know how it goes.
