Question about canceled Track Day

There was a private even that was being held on the big track at Willow Springs. I was notified the day before that the track got canceled. At first he said it was due to not enough people going. A couple of days later he told me that it was due to weather conditions.
The person I gave money to said that they will just reserve my spot for the next track event they throw. Is it how it goes or do they normally give full refunds?
I have a busy schedule and don't know if I can make it to the next one.

I did ask for a refund and he told me that they normally do not give refunds. They usually just reserve a spot for me for the next event. There is more to the story but that is the gist of it.
