Okay first off I normally never start post cause I just search for everything. Why I don't have too many post under my belt. Also don't mind my english it's bad. Learning disability can suck also haven't english as my 2nd language doesn't help either.

Anyways okay I have a Apexi GT 115mm exhaust on my stock KA. I have full in and out. AEM intake, 4-1 header, downpipe and test pipe for now. Trying to get my stock cat back so I can muffle it a bit.
As you can guess it really loud... A bit too loud for me. I got the exhaust for a really good price that's why I have it just to note. I live near a lot of old folks and I go work in Carmel with a lot of asshole cops. Also to get out where I live I have to climb a hill so I'm a bit louder then. So I've been kinda of worried about the sound. I just want it to be a bit quieter in the low band.

I've been looking at some silencer for the exhaust. I've searched and done some research. I've got the Apexi ATS (Active Tail Silencer) and Apexi Super Exhaust Silencer. I read a lot and heard a lot about the ATS but not much from KA owners. I haven't found any sound clip with them only a turbo RX-8.
My research as turned up this:
The ATS is $115 not cheap. It does what it's advertise to do. Not too much loss in power in the high end, basically only if your flooring it and your up there.
The super silencer thing is $40. Isn't as quiet as ATS. Some power loss in the high end but lil gain in mid range.
Over all for the GT 115mm exhaust on a NA a silencer help with sound. Making it feel better and sounds a lil better.

I gearing to the super silencer. Just cause it's cheaper and that it doesn't look funny. =o

So my question to you guys are which silencer should I get?
Do any of you have sound clip of your Apexi GT exhast?
Also any other comment are also appreciated.

Thanks, for reading all.

If you don't like the loudness at all just by the cheap silencer and bolt it in and forget about it. If you want the ability to change the volume of your exhaust on the fly in the car then get the more expensive piece.

The cheapy silencer will do plenty to quiet down your exhaust though so just do that.

The Silencer from my experience doesn't muffle it that much. More like takes the edge off of the exhaust tone (on a KA), bit any little but does help.

I have the ats installed on my car. last I drove it with kae, test pipe, header, attain titanium 3 in exhaust... LOUD AS FVCK.

If I put the silencer that came with it in it got noticeably quieter but it castrated my car so much I couldnt do it. The tone had a very raspy bit to it sounded like crap.

I purchased the ATS. Now, it DOES hurt power, but seat of the pants puts it out to being 50% less power loss over the standard silencer. Mostly lower end and some midrange. Car has a nicer tone to it all around and it gets just as loud when I really push the car. Really good investment if you ask me... sounds like you could benefit from it too.

Get a new exhaust that is quieter

Sell old exhaust

Silencer isn't gonna do much, you still gonna attract attention and be loud

Thanks for all the comments. Very helpful. I'm going to sit on it a bit more and see.
I'm going to get my cat on see if that changes it a bit.
I've never really heard my car from the outside. From my friends they say that it isn't that bad. I need to let someone drive my car to see what it sounds like from the outside. I also think I may have a small exhaust leak.

Anyways. Thanks again guys.

Thanks. You may be right about the tone. So I'm going to look at this at a different angle.

Buy a resonator and cut a piece out of the catback and weld it in.

I have the ATS. it works as advertised, but the annoying part is when i let off throttle. i dont use it anymore because everytime i let off the throttle, the spring started rattling inside the ATS and it made my car sound broken or something, haha. i ran it on a KAE w/ test pipe, header and n1 exhaust.

weird, mine never had any problems. These things are actually WICKED simple so you should be able to take it apart in 3 screws and fix it. I should know, When tuning my car I had a massive backfire that shot it into the street at high speed and blew it to pieces shearing bolts. I put it all back together :-)
