I blew my KA24DE about a month ago and I can't seem to find anyone who has another KA24DE around my area for sale. I have to go off to college in late august so i need an engine fast. Since i can't find a KA24DE around my area i was wondering if i should go another route... don;t bother telling me to get a SR20 because i don't have that kind of money.

For the money with everything included... which is the better way to go... not for power, right now that is not a concern, just worried about money. CA18DET, RB20DET, or wait and find a KA24DE?

if you can find the KA that would be the best bet because of part availability and price, after that well your best cheapest would be the ca18, that would be a really simple swap but you would need a single cam Tach. or the JDM CA18 tach. and last would have to be the RB20 because to properly do the swap you would need motor mounts, electric fans, and a 6 cylinder tach. so anyways keep looking for a KA if not order the CA and if well things really get out of hand and you got arround 2K just get the RB.

If you have an s13 its not to expensive if you go with an sr20det redtop specially if you get it with the clip and parts are are easier to find first develop a budget and see how much are you willing to spend

If you are having a hard time finding motors in your area, look outside your area.
www.car-part.com (http://www.car-part.com)
This is a site that links all junkyards in the USA together. Search for the KA24DE there. I found one for as low as $350. I love this site, and have used it many times in the past.
Good luck!

Find another KA24DE, the swap is very very easy and of course the cheapest. Swapping in another motor (such as the CA and RB20) usually is not cheap. Forget the initial cost, just think about what to do and spend incase something goes wrong or breaks.

if you buy a CA and have it shipped to your door then that will cost money...Then you'd have to swap it in, and buy more parts as mentioned above...So i'd just get a ka shipped to your house that way it would drop straight in, no problems, cheap for parts...and etc..

If you go KA, Your gonna kick yourself in the ass a month later. Go RB20, otherwise, get the KA and have it built a little to handle boost eventually.

i've used www.car-part.com (http://www.car-part.com) too. They have damn near everything. we were fixing up a 93 geo metro (coolest car ever) and I needed parts no one could get. Car-part.com had them. and cheap.

And if you just need to fix your car and get it running, I wouldnt worry about boost or anything. Im sure O'Reilly's has a rebuilt crate engine. Id check them out. A crate ka24E was 2 grand. Im sure a ka24DE wouldnt be too much more.

Besides, the internals on a KA are already strong as hell. if you want a little boost (like, under 10psi) Im sure the stock internals could hold that.

Funny enough, I was looking for Geo Storm parts last week for someone. Sure enough I went to car-part.com, and I found what I was looking for. Front and rear bumpers with the crash supports, like $200 shipped.

Great website!

I don't care about a GEO Storm, i asked about a NISSAN engine. I already have a single cam tach... Like i said it's not about the power, it's about the money... so yeah i might kick myself in the butt later but at least i would have a working engine that is more than i have now and i won't be in debt like most of the sr owners out there.

Does the CA just drop in or do i have to change motor mounts? Any other information? Remember, I'm trying to keep the costs to a minimum

Stick with ka24de or downgrade to a ka24e if money is of concern to you.

Or you can even down grade even some more to a ca18et : P
