It just started flickering on an off, so I just bought a mechinal autometer phantom gauge to check and see if my oil pump was going out. Its reading like 10psi when its cold and dropping down even lower than that when warm. But the light only starts to flicker when the motor warms up anybody have any ideas? Also its a 240 with a SR swap. Also does anybody know where I can get a good oil pump from if it is that.

as long as you have a good filter theres no reason to suspect your new gauge is inacurate. If you dont have any other oiling probelms such as noisy lifters or bearing noises, you could remove your oil pump, and remove the phillips screw from the back along with the 3 10 mm bolts. Use a feeler gauge to inspect all clearances in the rotor assembly.
if indeed your pump is bad you could go through a number of online sources such as phase2, heavythrottle, or enjuku all of which you would have to buy a whole new front cover.

well the motor has just been rebuilt and the guy that is tuning it thinks it might have metal shavings in the oil pump. from when the crankshaft hit the block and it spun a rod bearing. What kind of oil filters do yall usually run?

I am having pretty much the sam problem on my ka. Except cold it is like 30psi, then drops to like 15 when warm. And it doesnt change much with the engine rpm. I just bought another motor, and I got a Toga high volume oil pump. I hear they are a pretty good company.

Here is a link on AMS performance on how to break in engines.

if the motor came apart, the guy who built the motor should have disassembled the pump and thoroughly cleaned it as well as the pick up. If he neglected to do that he may have not replaced the small o-ring on the back of the front cover for the oil pump outlet. I use only factory filters on my SR.

According to the FSM, your oil pressure at idle should not be any lower than 11psi. At 3,200rpm, it should be between 46-57psi. I would take off your oil pan and check to see if your oil pick up is ok before spending the money for a new oil pump.

thats what I'm gonna do I already have an upgraded greddy alum oil pan, but am gonna check it before I put the new oil pump on

if you paid for a rebuild. It is the shops responsibility to diagnose this problem. also have them check the oil filter housing and sensor for clogging.

I already called them and they were like it wasn't acting like that before we built it, and I had to take it to another shop because they don't tune here. So there saying its the other shops fault, and all the other shop did was plug in the base inj and new inj.
