**THIS IS NOT ABOUT CLUTCHES! THIS IS ABOUT FLYWHEELS!!**
*I searched... there are no threads on this subject*
Im looking into getting a flywheel for my KA and ran across the flywheels on ebay....
They are only $200 shipped and I do not have much money.
A flywheel is a flywheel right?
Or do these ones explode and cause problems?
I want answers from people with experience with these flywheels... not some D bag with a ton of posts comming in here saying something like ooo its from ebay so its shit.

imo you get what you pay for
often times ebay clutches, turbos, etc are always a hit and miss. yea people buy them, often times they don't hold up. yeah there's people that have them and say yeah they work. but more often than not they don't hold up.
take intercoolers for example; they all work the same and have the same concept. but the quality is in the manufacturing. whether or not it holds boost with minimal pressure drop is in the manufacturer.
ever wonder why most drag race sanctioning bodies require scatter/flywheel shields? yeah they shatter. and yes they fly
it may be cheap but wheres the reputation
save up for something that has reputation and quality like fidanza or something that is a quality proven product

One of my buddies has a stage 3 with a t25 ka-t setup at 7 psi.
Been running it for 25000 (yes 25 thousand) kms and it still holds. But he says it works like shit. I guess its pretty much a stock pressure plate and whatnot, so it imagine it probably slips some.

^nice to see some good feedback.
I will be using a RPS pucked clutch so no worries about that.
This is about FLYWHEELS people..... not clutches.
I already know the ebay clutches suck balls

I went with a Fidanza flywheel, it was so so sweet until it warped on me 6 months later, but then again my head warped due to my radiator cracking while I was on the freeway, so that might have done something to it, but IDK for sure.
If I was gonna go with another aftermarket fly wheel, id go with billet steel; it may weigh a little more, but I think it's worth not potentially warping an aluminum one.

^^^ bullit steel! (lol u mean billet = machined out of one piece of solid forged steel, instead of being cast by a mold)
My question would be what's wrong with your OEM flywheel? Are you doing this just to get a 'lightened' flywheel for that super-quick-revving KA of yours? If your stock flywheel's ok, just resurface it and save the $200 for a head gasket (KA-T) or put it away in an SR fund.

originally I was going to go KA-T.... then decided SR would be better since this will be my first boosted car and I dont want to mess with getting it running right.
I just quit my job 2 days ago and dont have enough for an SR but I do have time to install some of the parts I have been collecting over the past year.
I installed a 2 way cusco lsd, ST sway bar and subframe spacers a couple weeks ago...
im basically doing this in a sequence so I can learn what really is best and what each mod does to the car while learning how to drive it. I just want to get the 5 speed in now so I can learn how to drive it a little better then move onto installing the coilovers, links and brakes.
I have a fidanza flywheel in my daily driver (ford probe GT) and LOVE it... by far my favorite mod.
I will eventually get an SR but for now I just want something that will be decently fun to drive instead of rev like a slow turd

XTD is crap.. plain and simple
seen 2 xtd! clutches fall apart..
one the pads fell apart, under 2000 miles (money not refunded by company)
the other all the springs blew apart. 300 miles (said to be abused and a refund was not given, nor was a replacement)

I edited your initial post to try to get the point across for you.
You can repay me by coming up with a more Positive Signature. :D

Why not just use a standard flywheel? Ive seen aftermarket chinese flywheels take peoples leg's off and destroy there cars!

A lightened flywheel does a lot of good on a KA.
I have the ebay clutch/pp/flywheel in my car and the flywheel is fine.
The clutch set is awful, but the flywheel is fine. It's not going to explode, don't be a pussy.
It's an Autocom flywheel, and was as nice as any other billet steel FW I've ever seen.
As a matter of fact, I would prefer it to a Fidanza. I don't like the idea of AL flywheel with inserts, give me steel.

^^ and you bought it from ebay, right? I don't trust gripforce anymore; I bought one from them and it never held, it was like I got a worn down used clutch that they made look nice with a new paint job. I tried talking with the guy who sold it to me but never got my money back.
Beware of gripforce and the people who sell them.
P.S. You get what you pay for, MOST of the time the cheapist way isn't the best.

I'm running the ebay flywheel on my car, and it was pretty much the same weight as my friends Fidenza. Ive had it in the car for roughly 15,000 miles without any problems, and its been on 2 motors. When I swapped motors, the flywheel had roughly 5k miles without any problems at all. The way I see it you can get it, take it to a machine shop to make sure its balanced, and you'll be set.
