now i can only get her to crank, I only need fuel, compression and spark to turn the engine on right? the fuel pump is working(i know because i pulled the line off and fuel went everywhere, compression should be fine because the engine only has 30,000 on it, the only reason my car wouldn't be coming on is because i didn't have the ignition wired up right, right? how can I check to make sure i'm getting spark?

put a spark plug in the coil, outside of the engine.

no, i thought you had to buy a spark plug tester to see the spark, and i've never had to check for a spark b4

okay so the spark is fine, I know the fuel pump is working, it's cranking... I can't think of what could be the problem, anyone else have a problem like this on their swap?

It cant be "off" unless to key in the cam is broken, in which case... only pain and suffering!

check comp. just because ads say "low miles" and shit doesnt mean its always true.

if it has been sitting for a while you may need to pour some oil/atf in each cylinder to build compression
thats if your fuel/spark/timing is 100%

with all the CA engines I've had experience with, those keys are surprisingly easy to break off if the timing belt cover is shifted.
P.S. Without compression you will still get some sort of "firing" of the engine and will idle. When you took your spark plug out did you have fuel covering the plug? Things could happen with your injectors not firing (take a screw driver, place it on the base of the injector and your put ear on the end of the screwdriver, if they are firing, you will hear a clicking sound) Altho I'm still betting money the key on your cam shaft has long since broke off and you put the CAS on a wrong tooth.

hey guys i got her to turn on today thanks a bunch for the help, she only ran for about 10 seconds then i cut her off, I dont know how long i can run it w/ just oil for the cooling, I'm going to install all the lines, radiator and fmic... then i'll be back when i get more problems haha
oh and i think that thick blue/red wire was part of the ignition because I plugged that up and she's on :/
