ok so lately my car has been bogging out when i try to give it more than 4000rpms. now i know that this is a overly discussed topic but hear me out..... i have done the following.
-put in new spark plugs
-checked all fuel lines for leaks
-checked all couplers and piping for boost leaks
-checked turbo and manifold for any loose bolts
-checked mass airflow
when i used to get on it i would smell raw gas, but there would be no leaks. and when i checked the spark plugs they showed that i was running lean(white tips) but there was black burnt rings.
so what i was thinking is that a/the injectors are stuck, leaking etc......(maybe)
now if that is the case, which i dont know if it is or not i would have to decide wether or not to upgrade the injectors or find some more stock ones. problem with upgrading them is that i would need a tune.
anyone have any imput on if they think its my injectors or not, or what kind of injectors they would go with?
btw... i have an 89 240sx fastback with a 98 s14 kouki motor in it. i have the walboro fuel pump and front mount intercooler........
if it helps at all, the fuel pump whines like no other. like abnormaly loud..... and i know they are loud generally, but a friend of mine has a s13 sr20 in his car and his isnt as loud
any imput would help. sorry its so long

hmmm sounds to me like you have bad injectors. well not necessarily bad but just not supplying enough fuel at higher RPMs in which case you just need a bit of a larger injector. As far as preference i dont have any. I usually just go with the ones that they ship in the kit. Like when you buy a turbo bolt on kit from greddy. They usually come with upgraded injectors. Try and find some from maybe an sr or just in general some that have more flow to them. Should solve your problem. If you are still experiencing the same after injector upgrade then pm me back and we can chat some more and try to figure out other possibilities.

i wouldnt have thought that i would needed to upgrade the injectors. it is still a stock motor pretty much, the only reason i wouldnt want to neccesarily upgrade is because then i would need to pay to get tuned as well and that could get expensive, and when i upgrade the turbo later on then i can upgrade. didnt really wanna do that quite yet. is there any way to test injectors for being stuck?

Have you tried coil packs? Is it all the time or after it warms up?

^ when was the last time you did cap/rotor/wires, what plugs/plug gap? you said you checked maf, you swapped it out with a known working one?

ok, not really when its warmed up. most of the time i can get on it one time before it starts acting up, sometimes not. i didnt change out the maf for a working one but ill try that tommorow, i just checkd the connections. the maf is from my sohc. dont really know how to check the coilpacks? idk, it just started doing it recently did the swap about a month ago and im just now having problems

so how do you check the coilpacks? do you have to change them with working ones or what?

That's the easiest way if you've got a spare set.
Does it bog beyond 4000 rpms if you keep it out of boost or only when your dropping the hammer?
BTW your Walbro should barely even be audible. If it whines, then it probably either A isn't working properly or B is improperly mounted- most likely B- they're pretty stout pumps.

even when im not boosting it boggs. i think i will check my fuel pump tonight, i knew it shouldnt be that loud

That's cool dude, but I don't think your pump is the reason you're bogging. Have you changed the fuel filter?.... Maybe your pump is whining trying to force gas thru a clogged filter... No reason why a stock motor shouldn't be getting ample fuel with a Walbro... Ya never know=) Sometimes the simple shit turns out to be the ticket.

yeah i put the z32 filter in not too long ago actually. and i thought that it might be clogged injectors not letting fuel in causing it to whine. but while i was thinking about it i thought i might have a fuel leak in one of the internal hoses to the fuel pump. that way whan it tries to pull gas out it just leaks back into the tank. idk its just an idea.

update: i just pulled the fuel pump right now. the ziptie had broke and the fuel pump was sitting at an angle. the fuel pump filter was also clogged to sh**. by looking at it it doesnt look like its replacable so i am letting it sit in some wd40 for a while and cleaning it up. any suggestions? ill update asap

to check for leaky injectors simply lift the rail off the manifold with the injectors still attached to the rail. turn the key on to provide fuel pressure. there should be no leaks from the injectors
