helper springs, and poly bushings on the lower shell casings...I think. I ended up going with the GR+ since I went with Z32 shell casings. I personally don't see much advantage besides maybe a tad softer ride daily with the helper springs.

Do you guys with the stances feel it being pretty bouncy?
d*star180
07-08-2007, 11:34 PM
I have the 9/7 springs on, and it is pretty bouncy in comparison to stock or spring/strut combo, but not as bad as most other coilovers. Ive ridden in Silkroad, megan, and Kts for S chassis. All were bouncier than Stance, Megan was crazy bouncy. I once rode in an Evo with Endless Super Functions, now that, was alot of a nicer ride than my stance.

I have gr+ in my girls s14 and slammed to shit also about 1/2in of the cat to touch the ground and they still can go lower. This is of course on steelies will be a tad bit higher by the end of the week when we throw her rims on.
I put the 9/7 combo on and have the F/R settings at 9 stiffness. It is bouncy but not annoying or uncomfortable in any way.
Keep in mind it's my girls ride and she loves it and says the ride does not bother her one bit, at the rate or settings.

When I spoke with the Stance techs a while back he mentioned that the GR+ and the Pros were exactly the same appart from the helper spring and lower bushing. The dampers used are the same ones in both models....It's the Basics that give you a smaller diameter/differently valved shock.
So even if you bought the GR+ you could "convert" them to Pros by adding the helper spring at a later time. Stance will sell you any individual parts you'll ever need including whatever spring rates your heart desires.
I say save your money and go with the GR+
ps. Anything Zeal is going to cost you more than twice what the Stance will.

My friend had zeals on his s14, second from best whichever those are. Spring rates were 10/8 on lowest setting of 1. I believe front and rear were 6 way adjustable. And let me say this about them. FUCKING BOUNCEY! but they were track only coilovers.
zeals is same company as endless

Zeal makes Zeal. lol It is a subsidiary of Endless Sport. They use Swift springs.
I used to run the super functions on my ITR. Best suspension I have ever used!

I don't think Zeal has a US page. Google can probably convert it for you.

I like my stance gr+ coilovers. I run 8k front and 7k rear. I have the helper springs on the rear. They allow you to adjust droop travel other than that I they shouldnt make a difference in ride since they will be compressed anytime there is weight on the coilover.

I just drove around in the GR+ in a S14 on Friday. The ride took the bumps alot kinder than the Megan's. They seem very comfortable for daily driving. I just need to test them out on the track.

Ive heard nothing but good things about STANCE.
I was too looking at the diffrence and ill have to agree with everything D*Star said.
What spring rates are all offered?
Dousan_PG
07-09-2007, 10:12 AM
i run 9/7kg on the s13
i wouldnt say they are BOUNCY
more like stiff
bouncy would be like blown shocks, imo
stiff is like when u hit a bump, u know it
stiff for sure
bouncy, no way
ive never had any complaints from passengers on the track or off.
IIRC the gr+ and the +pro both come with 2 sets of springs, they come with 8/6 installed and 9/7 extra.
Slidin240Wayz
07-09-2007, 10:26 AM
and from a reliable source I was told that they are made for the 9/7 setup and they just install them with the 8/6 for comfort.

Does anyone know what the HIGHEST offset is on a 9.5 in. wheel you can fit on to the front of a S13 with Stances before you hit the coilover?
I'm pretty sure that 9.5 +15 will clear... but not positive.
anyone running similar sized wheels with these coils?

Yes that is a recent picture of D*star's car.
I have Stance GR+ on my vert. They are not bouncy at all. Very very stiff. The only bounce I get is from my 205/55/16's @33psi. I parked the car and was pushing on the fenders and realized my suspension wasn't even compressing, it was all the tire.
BTW, I have 9/7 setup with 9 stiffness all round.

Depends on which. I've ridden in both Function X and Function Bs. The Function Bs I believe are like 18k/12k on my friend's Evo and trust me, they are not soft at all. He has yet found need to use full stiff at the track.

07-15-2007, 03:00 AM
I just installed a set of GR+ on my s13 today. I haven't ridden in many other modified cars so I can really only compare to stock. I'm running the 8/6 springs and set the damping to 6, 10, and 13 but its still crazy bouncy. going over roads at speed I could comfortably take my stock suspension, on the stances, it makes me bounce so much that i can't help but jab the throttle with some of the bounces. did I just get some shot dampers or am I doing something wrong? I'm on 215/45/17 tires with about 1.25" of drop all around.
I'm sure I'll have better things to say about Stance once I get a nice ride. This is also a Hicas s13 and the stances didn't have the bracket for the ABS wheel speed sensor so I had to drill in the brake line holder and fab a quick and easy bracket.

07-21-2007, 09:37 PM
I didn't realize customer service was that important when buying coilovers. This will be my first set. What issues arise that I should be concerned about?
d*star180
07-21-2007, 09:43 PM
Well, obviously, the suspension of a car is a wear item. And even some of the better mass produced coilovers will have bad apples. So say one of your dampers blow a seal and start leaking, or say you track it and bend one of them. Touge Factory is the main distributor of Stance in the U.S so they can give you exact dates on rebuilds and youd be working first hand with the manufacturer as opposed to a third party organization. Not to mention the Owner of Stance USA, Origin, Version:Select and all that shit is also the owner of TF.

^ since you didn't bother to click on the links i provided i'll help you one time. not having these my personally, i would have first hand experience. this is straight from the stance site.
"Helper springs allows the piston to be placed in the optimal position in the shock body, allows full use of rebound stroke, and maximizes articualtion on cars with mininum suspension travel."
and the bounciness guys...cant help but think you put them on yourselves, maybe when adjusting height you messed with the preload. probably put too much preload on them and iirc that would make them bouncy. because i run the 8/6 springs set at 9 on all corners, and mine are not bouncy...nice and stiff, bu not bouncy.
