SOHC troubles - violent shaking

Ok I have a 90 240sx with a KA24E in it. It seems to run ok however... It misfires randomly and oftenly, The major concern I have though is the fact that the motor shakes violently back and forth. Anyone know what this could be? It shakes so bad that it pings the power steering line against something? Well anyway I got a set of nismo motor mounts i'm going to put on will that fix the problem or do you guys maybe it's the timing on the distributor or something else? Any help would be appreciated thanks in advance.

Hey same thing happens to me. Actually I just fixed a minor tick on the #1 exhaust rocker. When i put everything back together it did it for the 3rd time since ive had the car. The culpret is probably the injector for 1 of the pistons. If yours looks like mine, then the boot cover things for the injector witing is all worn away and cracked and you can see the wires. Toggle with that for a little, then shut it off, unplug all the spark plug wires. Make sure theyre clean and reconnect them good. I dont know why, but when i mess with my #1 injector, it does it. Probably a minor short. Just keep screwing with those injectors. Thats what i do, and it helps. Turn them, and hopefully it will work. my engine is wierd though, and its an 89. Same thing, but eh... you know.

It sounds like a fuel or vacum problem check for a vacum leak or if your fuel injector wires are breaking or not clipped enough.

I pulled all the spark plug wires and checked all the plugs. The first three(1-3) were coated with black fuel remains but they were ok I guess nothing ridiculous. I'm going to assume that means I should advance the timing by a smidgeon. However the last injector (4 by the firewall) had fuel all over it. Any ideas on how to fix this? Maybe a leaky injector? That's the only thing I could think of unless maybe the head gasket is blown? Anyway it's only on the one cylinder, think this could be why the motor is shaking? I checked the cables and no change in it... Thanks for your help. I'm just trying to get it to pass inspection and emissions so any help would be awesome so I start my sr project :).

Gas on it means that its not sparking. Your injector is working fine, but that cylinder is not firing. Have the car on and take out that sparkplug wire and youll see that there wont be change. You'll probably want to replace that sparkplug

so it's just the spark plug, cause i checked the spark plug wire, and it was sparking fine. So I guess it could be the plug. Well I'll change the plug and see what happens. I'll keep you guys posted.

I changed all four plugs. It runs a little better now but didn't fix my original problem. Even after I put the new plugs in and I checked cylinder 4 it still had excess fuel on it. The motor still shakes but not as bad. Here's a pic of the old plugs if that helps:

On the left is my suspected problem - cylinder four and on the right is cylinder 3. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys :).

Check to make sure your spark plug wires are in the right places. If they are not, car will run like crap.

Are the intake hoses ripped at all?...

I'm going to get the codes checked today and the intake hoses checked. Yep all the spark plug wires are in the right place. I was thinking that at first but they're all right. I didn't see any broken vacuum hoses but I'll check the intake again

dude i got the same problem. plus it wont start sometimes. i replaced all four injectors. replaced the cylinder's plug. spark plug wires. still shaking. there were no check engine lights. so i dont think there are any codes. it doesnt shake while im driving it. just idles like shit. sometimes doesnt start. anyone know what i can do to stop this?
