i know a few people that took them off on the s14 sr.. and im not sure of the results but they are still driving without them. over a year later

what's the point of taking off the water lines to a turbo???

and if it works for a stock setup that the engineer made it with how much more could it benefit you with it out...

That's a huge generalization. The engineer also designed the stock boost to be 7psi, or to have a HICAS rear steering rack in the back of the car, but we all know both of those go out the window pretty quick.

As far as longevity of a turbo without water, it's a toss up. The coolant definitely helps to cool the turbo a little, but the increased effort of doing so increases the heat in the coolant itself, so the engine temperature rises a little in the process since it's got hotter coolant flowing through it. It is enough either way to make a difference? Probably not. The main benefit here is turbo removal is way easier and you've got less chance of developing an air pocket somewhere in the lines if you don't run coolant. Personally I don't have water lines on my turbo, other people do as well, but still others leave them in place. It's your call.

i agree with you about the hicas 7psi reasons but i see the reasons of those not being stock for more performance but the coolant doesn't really give any performance benifits. I'll just have to watch my wording next time... thanx for the explantion i'll keep my coolant line on just cause the are already on...
