GT wing options

im buying a big carbon fiber GT wing for my S14.
i was thinking APR GTC-300, but does anyone have any other ideas that might cost a few hundred dollars less? yashio factory, uras, ings+1, i dunno something like that. so help me out! and where can i get it from? :ugh:

You can always get an Origin or any other 3d wing, and make your own endplates and wingstays. Make some nice thick wing stays that DONT point forward super corny and space them really wide apart, then finish it off with some thick rounder endplates and it would really make those stupid China ebay wings look MUCH better. If i had my choice, Sard and Voltex knockoffs would be availible by now.

i ended up buying his GTC300 (67") off his navy S14 GT car
im going to put GTC500 wing stand on it so it'll be 15"

its gunna be sick
should be here pretty soon.

as you can see in the last pic, he had to chop the stands to make the wing 2" below the roof line for race specs. 600 canadian is a pretty good deal :)

I took apart some horrid APC aluminum piece I got for free and re-assembled to where I thought it would be able to scavenge some clean air skimming off the back stream over the rear hatch. to my surprise it worked great, I don’t feel any lift in the front coming out exit over 100 but if I come out exit at say 110-120 I can floor the car with confident, I definitely picked up some traction in the rear -which I needed a lot.

If you’re a drifter, I don't really see the point of any wing ever. Unless your entering sweepers over 100.

^^This is true. It also means S13 Fastbacks can get away with shorter wings due to the slope of the rear glass not affecting airflow as much as a coupe's or S14's steeper back glass.

they made all the nascar cars the same now so its about the teams and drivers more than one manufacturer having more experience/funds than another. I know they were also looking at ohc and efi setups that they can move to with a e85 fuel. The changes were to move the cars along and stop the bending of the rules. Also - it invites more manufacturers to the races, since they dont have to develop a chassis... just a powertrain setup.

If the product of downforce is drag, drag can then be considered a measure of downforce (remember the law of conservation of energy). Saying the same wing will produce more drag above the roofline would then be to admit it produces more downforce. If you consider efficiency in terms of downforce produced per wing area, it would be more efficient to place your wing higher. The solution to get less drag: use a smaller wing. I suppose placing it in turbulent airflow might work as well.... so in that aspect, "ideal" would be subjective to your preference of changing your wing or adjusting downforce/drag.

The only reason they pull ANY G's is because they go around banked turns. Other than that there is minimal acceleration. Constant speed(more or less) = 0 acceleration = 0 G's, unless you turn the car.

Pulling G's on a flat turn, like F1 cars, is the real deal, none of that 20 degree crap.

They don't go 180 mph for 2+ hours, I was forced to go to a Nascar race once, they stop for every stupid little thing, then just circle around going like 20 mph for the next 15 minutes, resume racing for like 3 minutes and then some driver starts chocking on a piece of chicken (you've seen the commercials, Nascar drivers obviously can't race without eating while driving) or a piece of grass lands on the track, so they have to slow down again, and this goes on and on and on and on and on and then I fell asleep. That's why I like F1, there can be a guy laying in the middle of the track and they'll keep going (okay maybe not literally but you get the point).

same goes for basball. hands down most boring north american sport to watch. (and i played for like 8 years) it boggles my mind that americans can fill a basball stadium and watch a pitcher for 4 hours. hockey is so much more entertaining then basball. Suggestion for wing size on a SC300/400 I have asked other palces and been tols 59 or 61" but man that just seems tiny. My car is big and wide. I was thinking probly the Orgin wing 1750mm its just so damn expensive. Anyone else make something that size with the 17" ish height you can get the origin in for cheaper?

I sold a car for Ikeya's. I seriously hated doing it cause really there isn't much need for them. I was quotes $5000+ to import a BN blister kit the vertex ridge kit is only $3000. I'm just annoyed cause I have spent so much money and well suspension wise i have a lot of adjustability I never really use. I porbly could have been fine with the supra damper set up I bought and making a camber kit. Which since i haven't put much on besides the dampers i might sell the ikya's and just make my own stuff.
