View Full Version : Wine Drinkers?

Edgar

So this is like my new thing. I'm kinda over drinking beer its either hard booze or wine on the weekdays.

Had some Yellow Tail Shiraz last night, pretty good for being cheap.

Any other wine drinkers out there?

My wife and I are wine drinkers. We usually once a week get a nice bottle and share it over dinner. We like Gewurztraminer especially.

She had a nice collection going at one point...but she drank'em all. Hahhaha.

We've even thought of doing a cellar in our lower level.

Shiraz is usually my wine of choice but of course it all comes down to what your drinking it with. My Dad is a huge wine connoisseur so I've been lucky enough to be brought up with the finer points of it. One place that has really great deals is Costco. they have the points right with the description of the wine. Great place for even beginners to try different types.

I've been on an Italian wine kick lately. This is some outstanding stuff, especially with a nice steak.

My favorite winery right now: http://www.la-spinetta.com/
My current favorite: http://www.la-spinetta.com/Wines/Page%201%20normal%20%20Pin%20ing.htm

Have also found some great Spanish wines lately....look for Juan Gil :bigok:

Wine tastes like butthole but I still drink it.

Someone brought over a bunch of EXPENSIVE ASS WINE to my apartment.

Seriously I drank at least $800 worth of wine to myself.

Then I got a girl to shave my entire hairy ass body and we played a bunch of circle of death...among other things.

It was a pretty good night.

I tried to drink at least one glass of red wine a night because it's suppose to be good for your heart. But I stopped that shit long time ago.

Now when I do drink wine it's usually white zen. by Barienger. Which is good. It's like fruit punch though.

I stick to beer. Beer is good.

But, my mothers side of the family are a bunch of blue blooded extremely well educated wine drinking liberals, and we drink a lot of wine when we get together. A lot.
I will drink red or white, I can enjoy either. If I were to choose a favorite, I think I enjoy Pinot Gris wines most.

And, bringing a box of wine to a party is usually a cheap panty dropper.

I drink either Charles Shaw from Trader Joe's ("Two Buck Chuck")

or Yellow Tail is good

I pretty much just buy based on bottle and how it looks

I'm not an expert so if it fits my budget and gets the edge off, then cool

I like merlot and shiraz

Speak for yourself. The wine I mentioned I usually spend $25-$50 one depending on the brand.

Most people that are wine lovers aren't going to bring up box wines. That's for kids that are just trying to get drunk.

Anyway, just thought it was going to be a discussion of some of the more finer points of wine.

I have a bottle of 1985 Taylor's, that I received as a gift about 10 years ago. Its valuation has climbed to $100+ and shouldn't really be opened until 2012 at the earliest. Now that's being saved for a very special ocassion.

I didnt really get into wine until I started culinary school. Still not really a conosuer, but I have aquired a few bottles.

I deff like Pinot Noirs the best, Followed closely by Borduaex's. I have a bottle of Cakebread Cellars Chardonay stashed away for a special occasion, Thats probobly th emost expensive bottle ive purchased.

As for the price, I think you can find many great bottles for less than 25$

PS: I always keep High Life on stock!

You sound like a dumbass bro. cmon now, if you've only dranken cheap box wines then you dont know the difference. Dont get me wrong im all about the drunkness per dollar value but sometimes you gotta have a classy drink for a classy girl. Anyways you can't judge a good bottle v mad bottle based on price figures. There are some good $5 bottles and some good $100 bottles same goes with the bad...its all about the palette of your taste budz.. haha SEARIDGE in the house.

Thank you. At least you, I, and Edgar are on the same page.

Look, wine isn't about trying to get drunk and have sex with jailbait *cough* Charlie *cough* for everyone.

Some of us are on a more grown folks tip.

I'm far from a rich person that likes the worst shit. But when I go to a wine tasting, I'm not just there to "get drunk". That's like going to a drift event and only caring how much smoke the tires make.

And BTW, this thread shouldn't be a debate. It's about people who appreciate wine and would like to discuss.

Ive gone through the phase where you want to drink to get drunk... good beers are a great detour from your frat house beer.

the best wine Ive had is the st. supery napa valley sauvignon blanc. I like a little bit of fruitiness to the wine... Im still young and have undeveloped, unrich taste buds :-P

really tho, a bottle of $10 wine is better to me than some of the more expensive :bigok: go get your winetaste on!

I do too. I'm not a red wine fan as much as my wife is.

Indeed $10 is good the majority of the time. But when I go out and buy some awesome steaks from the butcher, and plan a nice meal at home, I usually like to splurge. With steak though only a red wine will do.

I prefer a more fruity wine, but with Champagne I prefer one that is more dry.

What I do to try new wine is either go to wine tastings, or when im out at a restraunt, I remember the names of what wines are on the menu, Then go to the store are find them drastically cheaper.

Usually if they serve them at a restraunt they are pretty good. Trader Joes really is a good place to fine a nice 12-20$ bottle

Just cause I drive a 240 doesn't mean I can't appreciate other nice things in life. I just got done with a $40k kitchen remodel complete granite counter tops, maple cabinets, porcelain tile floors, etc. I cook on All-Clad MC2, and use Wusthof knives. Stuff that most 240 owners don't give a shit about.

I have come to really like sweet red's. There are a couple of good priced local ones that i really like. Canadian River (made in slaughterville, OK. around $9/bottle) and Tidal School (made in drummond, OK. around $11/bottle). Imo, i cant see any reason to pay any more than that for a bottle of wine, however, i have not tried a more expensive sweet red yet (and hopefully i never do because you'll never miss or crave what you havent tried, right?).

No, not in this house. We wouldn't see out money out of them. We went with the better Frigidaire SS line. We're going to build out next house, and we planning on viking and Subzero. Hopefully my friend still works for Subzero then. Yea, it is nice to have that stuff.

Last night the wife and I went out for a nice diner and shared a bottle of 2004 Marques de Casa Concha Merlot ($45). It was outstanding. Definatly worth it.
