Hello. I have spliced the original harness to connect with the panasonic harness but can't get any power. I tried searching and used the FAQ, attempting to splice into both the green/red wire (mentioned in the FAQ) and 1 post on here mentioned the pink wire, but the unit is not turning on. any suggestions? green/red or pink?
thanks

check fuses in drivers side kick panel first.. then check under the hood for fuses..also check your ground. if you still got trouble check out www.installdr.com. if your still having trouble after that, you shoudnt have tried to install your radio :P

S13 or S14? The light green/red is the amp turn on wire, you shouldn't need that at all.

From your previous posts I'm assuming you own an S14. Wiring in a head-unit is pretty straight forward. Ill post up what wires connect to which.

Wiring Harness >Head Unit

constant 12v - Pink >Yellow
ACC - Blue >Red
Ground - Grey >Black (or you can ground it to the chasis)
Illumination - Red/Blue >Orange/White
Antenna - Green/White >Blue
LF+ speaker -Pink >White
LF- speaker - Blue >White/Black
RF+ speaker - White >Grey
RF- speaker - Black >Grey/Black
LR+ speaker - Light Green >Green
LR- speaker - Purple >Green/Black
RR+ speaker - Blue >Purple
RR- speaker - Pink >Purple/Black

Make sure you plug in the actual antenna wire(the thick black one that has a different plug, you might have to buy a coversion harness) if you dont plug it in you wont get any power to the head unit. It closes the ciricuit, allowing you to turn on your head unit.

On a serious note, Whenever I install a deck I always get a harness... this makes the installation a breeze!

just to make sure.. when you install a stereo for the first time you actually have to manualy power it on after hooking it up.. just a thought..

well i am going to work on it again this week, but i tried so many color combinations, and one time, while trying to power up the deck, the antennae went up a bit and then the car shorted out! thank god it was only 1 fuse that broke.

anyways, forgot to mention that I have a 95 SE and that the color guides i got from 3 various sites did absolutely nothing.

and i still dont know where to ground the black wire.,

Ground the black wire to one of the shifter bolts.

You sure it wasn't your car's harness that was messed up.

If you can't get power, just try taping into the lighter power cable. If the unit works, then you know is got to be a fuse or you're not splicing the right cable in your car. But if it doesn't work withe ligher power cable either, then something wrong with your player (hopefully not). If you need further assistance, you can PM me. I've installed lots of audio stuff in to my cars through the years. Good luck!

wsup. Well basically, the most crucial peice of info i need at this point, is which wire (from my 95 s14 SE 6/speakers and stock amp removed) is the power wire? And what do I do with the black wire from my panasonic stereo deck? (the ground wire i presume)

If the black wire has a terminal ground it to the shifter. I have a panasonic headunit. If you give up go buy a harness from circuit city, bestbuy, etc...

some one take a picture of your radio harness and so he can match it up.
did you cut ur stock wires? or did it come like that.?
also i think you can buy aftermarket nissan plug to wire up to your own.
best way to do a system with out the harness is using a power probe.
if you dont have that use test light and batter rigged to wire.
