If you’re interested...
First of all I am starting to think the 264 intake 272 exhaust camshaft combinations is not a good combo for a smaller turbine like the gt30R. It would find its home better for making power with a stage 5, p or otrim t4 or a gt35r/40r turbine wheel.
with that in mind the car ran a [email protected] with a mishift into 4th gear at the last 200 ft (not sure if it really effected the time). 2.0 seconds on the 60 ft was exacerbated by the car falling out of boost in a rich spot that was made worse with the overwhelming overlap with the 272 cam not quite complimenting the 264 intake cam.
The car was running 16 psi with a very rich tune as I just switched back to larger injectors (850cc) and was tuning run by run with crappy results.
Both cars had different types of grip oriented suspension not the best for drag racing which exacerbated the 60ft woes. However 1.8's felt very possible even on the very conservative street radial MT tires that were swapped on for better launches. Both cars also had pretty rough street tunes and I am confident with some dyno times HP can be increased on both cars at the same boost levels on the order of 40-50whp.
The no.1 topic of the day was however how Luke's car hit a 12.9 then a 12.8 then a 12.7 dropping a tenth each time all day. If he had hooked up a 1.8 in the 60ft he could have hit an easy 12.5 also.
Overall it was a great weekend, we drove there and back, these are street cars on the verge of becoming race cars but to hit these times in 100 degree heat on pump gas without dyno tuning only street tuning by myself, while running road racing style suspensions and rear diffs/gear boxes is definitely a testament to good tuning and work and development on the sr20det by myself.
Next time Luke should be running easy 11s with boost at the 22 psi range and race fuel and I should be in the same area.
I will be trying out going back to the 264 step 2 combination for now and will let you guys know what I think (I might try the brian crowers this time).
It's kind of a rush because this week I will head out to Willow Springs big track to shake down the car for the very first time on a real road course. A 11-12 second car that can run a good time around the twisty course? we shall see.
I should have the bc or hks 264 on both sides in before wsir and will see what happens to the power band.
FYI the 264 step2 is the way to go for almost anything larger thana t28 imo. Great pair for the 48-54 trims style wheels.
