i recieved a used Apexi SAfc NEO. i plugged it up in my stock sohc s13. once wired up and plugged in i took her aroudn the block she ran fine for a few seconds then started coughing sputtering popping and blowing smoke. then she died and i popped the hood where i discovered a puff of white smoke coming from inside the airbox. i helped her home. i replaced my leaking fuel injectors vacuum leaks, replaced the fouled spark plugs and replaced my maf. now the car will start but idles horribly and at 500 rpm misses greatly and smokes white. does anyone have any suggestions? i need this fixed please

yeah, the used safc neo was tuned for someone elses car and you probably didn't initialize it and clear out that guy's tune for that guy's set up or different maf he was running or whatever, but anyways it leaned out your motor, and it blew a hole through the side of one of your pistons, i'll throw a dart with my eyes closed at cylinder #4 as i've been seeing that one go a lot lately, but in any case you're gonna need to fix the bottom end of your motor = worst case. you may get lucky and just have blown your head gasket, then you can put a metal one in there and arp studs and call it a day. seriously, do a compression test. if you don't know how i'll tell you. you can get a tester for 20 bucks at any parts store, take out a spark plug, unplug your ignitor or cam angle sensor plug (disable spark basically), screw it into the spark plug hole, and crank over your car for 5-7 revolutions. check the guage and see what PSI you get. repeat for the other cylinders. if you get 150, 145, 141, then 20psi, you know the one with 20psi is the problem cylinder....good luck with it, sorry to hear about that.

whenever buying used engine management, always clear it out from the previous owner's set up....=[ . on an safc2 neo you'd turn the key to the ON position, go to ETC option. then go to Initialize, then click YES. turn the car off and the previous set up is cleared. take care

it might take awhile for it to initialize. When I put on my safc... it took about like 3-4 starts (and dies) for it to fully be erased.

But then again, I have the safc v.1, might be different?
