so i've recently disasembled my motor because i was getting huge blow by on #2 and it turns out i've cracked both the piston ring lands on the lower comp ring and the oil ring
anyway so now im looking at building a complete forged internal motor with solid lifters and stiffer springs
my question is though whats my best option for the build
i've been looking at 8.5 to 1 JE pistons and eagle rods
has anyone read any build up articles on the s14 sr20det motor or had any experiences with weisco, JE or brian crower
i'm aiming for about 380 whp and i run the gt2871r turbo so my goals shouldn't be out of grasp with the right tuning
any advice is apreciated
thanks

I have Mahle pistons personally and I like them. I think they are an alternative to the other companies and they are price and performance competitive.

I'm not sure what brand pistons to go with but I'd run 9.0:1 CR with stock rods...
along with the Brian Crower head treatment and a GT30R...
and rev it to 8500 RPM...

i've heard good things about all those pistons, i heard that wiseco uses a silicon coating on the piston skirt that's supposed to be pretty nifty. i've also heard eagle rods aren't that great, i think you'd be better off with carrillo, je, or crower rods than eagles. ACL race bearings, ferrea is the shit when it comes to valve train stuff. i haven't seen that much on a 28/71, but those weren't full builds either, i've seen a couple 360-370ish @ 20-2X psi. i like the 30/71 honestly, but i think you should be able to get 380 with cams and the 28/71. the main thing is you've got all this money in the internals, don't go with just an safc2. they're great but it has way more potential and you'll get a waaaaay better power band with something you can adjust the timing and datalog with. i would very strongly recommend aem, bare minimum power fc with datalogit. good luck man

They aren't OEM they're actually .20 over. bore. There're very comparable to wiseco and the other brands just less advertised and flamed out IMHO.
Rod wise I'm running Eagle I beam rods.

i just got my built s14 sr20 running, i have scat rods and the mahle pistons. i have no complaints about them. not really sure how you can review a set of pistons unless something has broken. but mine are still intact, and not making any noises.
