The time as come, i am now too low and if I do not RELOC my harness, I will screw shit up. I was looking at how much of a PITA, or maybe just t ime consuming and I already spend all last weekend working on the car and missing family time. Blah Blah. Is anyone running these?
http://storesense.megawebservers.com/HS318/-strse-1398/AP-Boss-LAP-Fender/Detail.bok
If So, Do they hold up?
Am I to assume the same one for the KA240 harness will work for mine?
Thanks for those who provide input in advance.

+1 great find! I'll be using one of these now for my harness instead of running it through the engine bay. Mine engine bay is messy enough already w/o having something else in there.

it looks like it would still be a pita to run your harness through that
then youll just be rubbing on that all day long cause its now bigger than just the harness alone.

honestly it took me 10 minutes to relocate my harness higher once i got the fender off on my track car..... why not just buy some sheet metal and screw it in this way itll protect your harness just as good for cheaper.

I currently do not have the time to relocate it, you say 30 minutes though. I dont wann pull the fender, that would take the most time. I spent all last weekend at the hobby shop installing stuff...and wanna get the car on the track. I am rubbing now at low speed turns. Something like this could take me 30 minutes to install. This looks like a better idea to me then what I was thinking of using a piece of sheet metal, screws, and some rails to create a tunnel for it.
Kouki, I would rather ub this than the harness though :)

My car came equipped with a top of the line piece of sheetmetal, haha. There was a small hole or two drill on the bottom side of the fender on the chassis and wood screws were used to hold the harness and hood latch wire in place. I have not had any issues with it. It has some tire marks from the tire rubbing so I know it is working.
The Boss piece looks like the half circle section will still sit lower than how I mentioned it above.

Thanks Carlos. Just found out a local shop has something like this. If it looks like it will hang insanely low, I will fab up a sheetmetal one and post it in the Ghettofab thread I created in the premie section. Fuck it. Worth a shot. prolly use alot of little screws vice longer ones with top support.

Don't go too crazy, no real need to. Just make sure it stays in place, the harness cannot escape, and the harness does not get cut on the edge of the sheetmetal.

Although it seems like a good idea to make a piece like this, I can't see paying money for something that you don't need. Taking the time to pull the fender will give you access to move the harness without buying anything except a few zipties. The people who suggest relocating into the engine bay are taking it way too far, all you need to do is lift it above the ledge that the harness sits under, there's no need to move it completely out of the wheel well.

Honestly, the best route is just pop the fender, pop the grommets holding the harness snug inside the engine bay to give you some slack and safety wire/zip tie the harness on the upper side of the fender well. On my last 14, I just drilled some some holes to get my safety wires thru and hold the harness in place on the lil lip/shelf thing underneat the fenders. My car was so low I was still touching the harness on full turn by the inner wall. So I can a slot on the side to pull the harness further from the wheel at full turn. Lemme know if you need help with this daryl, shouldnt take more than 30-45 minutes, like you said, the hardest part is taking the fender off and putting it back on. I need to do mine too once I buy some jack and jack stands and lower the car some more. But before I can do that, I still need to roll the fenders.

You could just buy or find a sheet of aluminum, cut it and hammer away so its as snug as possible, then rivet it on or something. Atleast you will be rubbing on a smooth surface, and it wont cost $60

Taking the fender off takes like ten minutes.
if it takes you more than 30 minutes to relocate the harness on an S13 you're incompetant.

But there's absolutely no need to do so, plus it looks like total shit. Above the ledge is far enough way and protected by a good chunk of sheetmetal. If your tire rubs through that, you're not actually running tires, you're running tank tracks.

I wish someone made and sold brand new harnesses, I relocated mine, but it's past the point of no return. My headlights don't go up or down anymore, and the only part of my cluster that works is the temperature gauge, I roll dirtyyy, haha.
By the way, relocating the harness is pretty easy, you don't have to cut any wires, just unplug it from the steering column and at the big white plug under the kick panel. Some people weld in metal to cover the part where it goes from the cabin to the engine bay, mine used to rub there too, but then I just took out the rubber plug and pulled up the harness with a ziptie, and it hasn't rubbed yet like this, even when countersteering.

^^ Some shops have electronic magicians that are able to fix them.
Buddy of mine went down to one after I pointed out his harness failed and WOW it looked brand new!

Damn thanks for all the feedback brothers:ughug: . Hey Ray, I am gonna take you up on this shit then. But I am serious it has to be soon. Im drivin around too damn carefully. I am headed to speed factory tomorrow to get the final fit and pick up the Z32 to Compressor Pipe Inemine made me and then my car is gonna sit. I kinda like R240NA's Idea so I wanna try that. I agree it looks like shit, I already Have the catch can, PFC boost sensor, Fuel guage and lines, plus some other shit in that area. This is the reason I was gonna just fab up a cover for it. So you in or not. Should be able to do this at my house, which I can call family time as long as Yamato is there asking "Daddy whats that?"

I pulled my fender, ziptied it along the top lip, then where it go through the firewall I bent up a piece of flat steel to hold the harness away from any harm. Works great, cost me next to nothing, and I don't have to run my harness in the engine bay.

I think the AP Boss product is a huge wast of money and very over priced to boot. It is very easy to re-locate the harness higher up yourself for only a few dollars.
I wish someone made and sold brand new harnesses
I have a front chassis harness I am selling if you need one. It's perfect!

are you running wide fenders? my (stock) fenders wouldn't bolt back up without removing the sheathing, only had about 1/2 inch of clearance at the tightest point.

Yep, me too. also a good idea to hammer the chassis seam up and out, going to need to anyway for tire clearance, and it makes alittle ledge to hold the harness up there.
Or be like me and re-wire the whole car, I think I am actually going to run most of the wires for the front (lights, horn, etc) through the frame rail, and the engine control stuff through the stock firewall hole. should be sweet, no wires to hit with tires.

I've done numerous S13s and S14s the same way, never had any clearance issues with the fenders.
