You need to search, your gonna be flamed just for posting something this retarded. KA's are known to last well over 200k if properly maintained... No thats not too much mileage but do a compression/leakdown etc just to be sure...oh ya..

As long as the car hasn't been beat to hell and back. My ka24e lasted a little over 190k before the timing chain came un-done. Do the usual compression test and such to actually see if it is somewhat healthy, then go from there. More than likely not but its still good to know so you can have an idea of what you may be doing in the future to better prepare for any problems down the road.

Heading north to 230K :) Maintain it and I'll last.

depends on how much your going to pay for it, and if it was properly maintained or atleast somewhat maintained

leak down test,

my dohc was 200k and could've gone for a whole lot more,
a friend had over 300k on sohc, we both got sr's, but the ka can last a long long time, do a compression test if you can't do a leakdown...

you should probably look for one with more miles, maybe some rusty frame rails too so you can swap the jdm frame rails in

yeah...like the first guy said. should have searched a bit first. 226 on my single cam, running like a champ. as long as it was maintained well, and you maintain it well, it'll will be fine. everyone does different things. people like swapping motors (option one, good amount of money and time), you could rebuild the motor if you want to just dd it for a while, or possibly go turbo(option 2 also quite a bit of money if done right, once again time), or you could wait (it's really one of those do i really like the car.) either way you still have a 240..lol

if the car is well taken care of you are okay... I got my car with 260k miles on the og engine and it is still running strong and I am at about 275k... KA24DE pwns! The search option is your best bet though ;)

Mileage wouldn't be the barometer I'd use to pick a 240. KAs are cheap and most people will be swapping the motor in no time. Things like rust, 5 speed, suspension, brakes and overall condition of the chassis are more important to most prospective 240 owners imo.

176000 miles... is equal to 281600km.... so from a Canadians standpoint it's kinda high, but not overly high.

My Old Grey 92 super hicas had 213k when I traded it for a 91 MR2. They guy sold it about a year later for like $2700 it was a clean ass car. I do tend to shy away from cars over 200k but thats more a psychological thing. If its clean the chassis is straight and the price is right then its worth it.

its not enough miles

That's not too much. I would suggest you drive the car first and see how it feels and sounds. Also take it to a mechanic and have them check it out. Then compare the condition of the engine and the overall of the car with the price and see if it's worth it for you.

I just bought a 240 that may actually have 250,000+. Guess what though, it's in good shape, it has no idea what rust is, and the engine runs well. Does it need a new engine? Yea, but the car itself is worth it. Plus the price I paid was pretty good. If I through in an SR it'll be perfect.

So, no that's not too many miles as long as the price is right, the body is in good shape, and you are prepared to eventually do a swap.

Wow, you guys in the states really let your miles rack up eh? some of you guys let it roll over the 200k mile mark? That's nuts. That's well over the 300oookm mark.

That's because the cars in warmer climates don't rust. So really what's the diff. (no pun intended) how many miles it has on it?

Well I think thats in part more so due to two factors weather condition and upkeep. You could say that given weather conditions in some parts of U.S. 200k plus on the mileage is achievable because weather does not destroy it. You could also say that if a car is garaged all its life and maintained it can easily last that long. It used to be that American cars were over 100k lasting machines. That was before the American auto workers union managed to destroy the U.S. auto industry combined with bland designs. Read mid 70's. Its also when the Japanese cars started becoming extremely reliable. Previously Japanese cars were nothing to get excited about in the reliability/longevity department i.e. they did not last.
The result is American cars got shitty and fell apart and Japanese cars held up. Americans like to hold onto their cars. Unlike Japan and some other countries U.S. car owners on average own there cars longer, hence you see much higher mileage here.

I live in WI, which has very cold weather during the winter too. We also have salt which rusts our cars terribly.

That's why I travel 800 miles to go buy a car down south. No rust.

I live in CA and my S14 has 245k on the chassis :woot:

I hate working on cars from the east or anywhere with salt... the damn crap corrodes everything and things get stuck, snap whatever all over the place :D I charge more on those cars hahaha

I just cracked 60k on the 95 I bought a few months ago. My first 240 (also a 95) had about 160k on it when I sold it. Honestly, I can totally tell the difference.

The lower-mileage car is so much more tight than my old one was. It doesn't make weird noises, have mystery leaks, or anything like that. It was babied by the previous two owners so that I don't have to. :p I also don't have to fix dumb little crap every other week.

With lower-mileage cars, though... you have to be able to tell the difference between a car that was taken care of or just not driven a lot. I've seen 15-year old cars that have 40k on them but are pieces of crap. On the other hand, I've seen cars with 200k on them that run like champs.

So, YMMV.
