I am looking to swap a 300zx rear end or some type of LSD VLSD into my s13 240... i found a 300zx with low miles and such, only problem is it is automatic, can i still use the rear end? or is there a better alternative?

It's the same thing so you can use it. You will also need 5-bolt axles or change the output shafts.

it all depends if its turbo or non turbo, only the n/a 300zx vlsd will work on a 240...

can i switch out the whole rear end on the 300zx? im trying to go 5 lug anyway. the 300zx i might use as a parts car is a 90 n/a with 30,xxx miles.

the axles on the 300zx are too long to fit into the 240sx, so what you would need to do (as i did) is to bolt up the driver 6 bolt and also take out the six bolt output shaft from the 240 pumpkin and swap onto the 300zx pumpkin while maintain the 5 bolt pattern on the passenger side. works perfect shouldn't leak the pressure from the axles squeezing the vlsd should keep the thing from falling apart, make sure you bolt it down tightly i have pictures if interested. took no longer than an hour (cause we were slacking off too much). and then just do 5 lug but i dont think the whole subframe will fit onto the 240sx, 300 are too wide, but thats just my assumption

driver side remains 6 bolt, passenger is going to be 5 bolt, make sure you keep the bolts because they are 12mm while the 300zx 5 bolts are 14mm, be careful to remove the output shafts you dont want to cause damage to the internals, and the 6 bolts wont have anything to hold onto like a clamp or anything but will work, the guy who did mine has one on his car for about 1 year and drives hard as hell all the time, here is my setup,

have someone who has put into vlsd help you cause this thing is heavy, but the gears are longer then the stock 240's i even feel the car lock up when i shift. so easy to spin this car, and im stock ka. but can't take off in 2 or 3rd from dead stop like i used to

Incorrect. The Z32 NA has the same 4.08 gear ratio as the Schassis. The gears are not any 'longer' as you state.
