if you're trying to install new pads, clockwise.
search next time, this is an easy one and is well-covered.

Yeah, like said prior, clockwise to screw it in... And make sure the ebrake is off.

why woulnd't you just assume you screwed it back in just like everything else in the world....
left = loose (out)
right = tight (in)

yeah, but it was insanely hard to twist in, which is why i posted instead of searching. I posted and ran back because i needed to drive and couldnt because my brakes werent on so i was hoping for some quick help. But now i need some good info, so please refer to this thread here:

Hard to turn = seized caliper.
