This was sent to me at work, enjoy.

New Driving Fines for 2007

1. Carpool lane - 1st time $1068.50 starting 7/1/07 (The $271 posted
on the highway is old). Don't do it again because 2nd time is going to be
double. 3rd time triple, and 4th time license suspended.

2. Incorrect lane change - $380. Don't cross the lane on solid lines or intersections.

3. Block intersection - $485

4. Driving on the shoulder - $450

5. Cell phone use in the construction zone. - Double fine as of 07/01/07.
Cell phone use must be "hands free" while driving.

6. Passengers over 18 not in their seatbelts - both passengers and drivers get tickets .

7. Speeders can only drive 3 miles above the limit.

8. DUI = JAIL (Stays on your driving record for 10 years!)

9. As of 07/01/07 cell phone use must be "hands free" while driving.

Hey they gotta pay for new cruisers, radar guns, speed cameras and motorbikes SOMEHOW right. Just think of how many lives will be saved, and how much more efficient traffic flow will become with these new fines. What a joke..

Well, I know from experience that the fines increased over the past year.

When i was visiting norcal, i got a ticket on 101 north
85 on a 65, officer wrote it up as 85
$187 before all the traffic school craziness
$255 after all traffic school craziness+ fees etc

My friend up north got a ticket 2 weeks ago, on 280
Officer wrote him up at 80 on a 65
Ticket was $260something before traffic school stuff
He didn't find out how much after traffic school yet

Hoax or not...

I'm sure you guys seen this article (http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/17/1769.asp) recently about the $1000 speeding tickets in Indiana?

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will soon be the direct beneficiary of speeding ticket revenue under a bill recently signed by Governor Mitch Daniels (R). The measure gives INDOT the power to decrease speed limits "without conducting an engineering study and investigation" in highway work zones. INDOT can direct police to enforce this lowered limit, regardless of whether workers are actually present. The law also mandates that no work zone speed limit exceed 45 MPH.

As of July 1, INDOT will collect the revenue from these fines which the law also boosts significantly. The first offense runs $300, the second $500 and the third $1000. Anyone contesting the fine in court faces an additional $70 fee if found guilty.

here is a link for you to find your local office if you want to inquire

Actually all of those new fines are accurate. Go check on the DMV's website. One of my coworkers brought it to show to me because I have a penchant for being chased down by law enforcement.

Im not sure about the $1000 Indiana law though. Unless it hasnt gone into effect yet... I was just in Indiana last month and got stopped for 84 in a 55 and the ticket was $242. Not that bad considering how much worse it would have been here in SoCal. It's just so hard not to speed in IN. You could land a fucking jumbo jet on most of those highways.
