I have a redtop SR with:
FMIC
3" Downpipe/Test pipe/Exhaust
Profec B Boost Controller
Stock turbo/injectors/ECU/MAF
I was just curious what all I would need to upgrade get to ~260whp.
Any help would be awesome! Thanks!

You'll probably want to go with a T28 because 250+ on a T25 is out of its efficiency range and just blow hot air.
I would get
t28
550 injs
fuel pump
z32/cobra maf
sometype of tune JW/Enthalpy
You should be safely at that level boosting 12-13lbs

yeah from what I remember, the t25 will only throw out 250whp on its highest boost setting. its not about adding more fuel at that point, its about adding more air as well. you'll need a different turbo.

yeah, seems like you just want to max out your stock setup,
but you need fuel pump and a better clutch,
ecu tune/piggy back/stand alone...
and super premium fuel

I was hoping that I wouldn't have to change out the turbo, but you can't win them all, I suppose. If I wanted to go to ~300whp one day, which T28 should I get?

Hey, the july issue of Super Street Magazine has a section in which it tells you how many horses you'll make with the different upgrade/ parts they've used. I beleive they dyno tested the engine with the different parts. They called the section "recipes for power" They power ranges from 256hp up to 410hp for the sr20.
Good luck!

Just remember, it's one thing to get a HP#, it's another to do it safely and make it reliable. anything over 250HP will need a fuel pump, MAF ,and injectors to be safe and reliable. also, the t25 won't go any higher safely and reliably... good luck

I was running a t25 with bolt on's for awhile (FMIC, fuel pump etc..) at pretty much right at it's max output, about 14psi or so IIRC, and was just hitting the 240ish HP range. It eventually popped at that... so I would say 240ish HP is the max you're going to get with a t25. You'll need a t28. :)

its all about a tune. my freind got his KA dynoed at 190rwhp with just sr injectors and cams. Well exhaust and intake to of course, but thats a hell of a tune, so its quite possible to get close to your goal realiably on t25, but thats it. dont build yourself a ceiling and do all that work. buy a bigger turbo now instead of waiting

just drop some 256 cams in, turn up the boost you should be able to hit 260 even with a t25

I'm really trying to stay out of the motor, if at all possible.

In terms of FWD sr20dets we'd be looking at 440 cc injectors at 4 bar and a T28 with the appropriate intake and exhaust.
a set of BC stage 2 cams wouldn't hurt either, and they are pretty cheap. :)

that's just the KA though... someone was building a KA for STS class in autocross and managed to gain 23 whp out of a tune. this isn't true for every motor, the stock tune just seems to be very conservative. i bet nissan just grabbed the truck fuel/ign maps and stuck it in the 240sx ecu. :) that is just speculation on my part though.

then your screwed
it might be possible depending on the dynometer your using

Maybe you misunderstood what I meant by going into the motor. I'm talking about cams, pistons, rods, crank, etc.
Plus, you don't NEED cams to get 260whp with an SR. A simple T28 turbo upgrade with some 550cc injectors, a Z32 MAF, and a relatively mild tune will do the trick.

imo, installing some 256 cams is an easier job and less work than replacing the turbo.
A lot cheaper too.
turn up the boost to 14-16 psi stock turbo
3 inch exaust with no catalyst
decent fmic
walbro fuel pump
drop in some 256 cams.
not sure about maf capacity, but 1 bar should be ok, pump the fp up a tad with a nismo fpr if your worried and double check on boost afr.
you should be able to do it if the motor is in good shape and your compression is up to spec.
I drove an sr20det stock form, t25 with 256 cams, really does make a nice difference and is a very cheaop sleeper mod imo, that matches the stock intake mani and turbine just right. He was running less than 10 psi stock maf however.

Steve has a point, but if you want to be limited to ~260ish that's the easiest route (Turbo would be the limiting factor). But trust me, you'll want to be quicker and faster once you get bored with that setup. It also depends on what your goal is. 260 will be a good street car until you get bit by the bug.

Then if you knew this why were you curious ? Obliviously you know the forumal to accomplish 260. You answer your own question.

Because this post was from a few days ago. I found the answer in the interim.
