What is the best way to clean the stock SR intake manifold. Degreasers kinda suck and I can't find a good fitting brush to scrub with. I tried taking to machine shop but guy said he couldn't hot tank cause it would flash rust if he used that acid shit on it. I was thinking getting it extrude honed but does anyone know a quick easy method to do at home? Maybe some special concentrate or something I can submerge it in overnight?

I took the intake manifold apart, took off the injectors, hoses, AAC valve (clean that while you're at it too). Then I drench the runner and the plenum with those gooey carb cleanner/degreaser from Autozone. Let it sit a bit then I went at it with an old flexible toothbrush until everything was clean and shiny. Only downside to my way of cleaning the manifold, is that you'll have to buy the new gaskets. I did it because I was rebuilding the thing anyway.

Sandblaster. Works beautifully, just remember to clearcoat it afterwards.

Purple Power has always worked on everything for me. I use it to clean the engine bay, Clean carpet, Clean bathrooms. EVERYTHING!!
Just spray, let it sit, maybe a little scrub, and rinse

cleaning inside the runners, works best if u use gasket remover... and a pressure washer ... i speak of experience cleaning spec miata race engine everyday.... the outside i used.... alluminum wheel cleaner.... when u use that stuff make sure u air dry it super fast or itll have spots...

Aluminum can decompose, and corrode thats why it's recommended not to run large amounts ethanol through our engines....
It can also go through processes of galvanic action, when bonded with the wrong metals.

I tried purple power and it seemed to get the grease loose and then attach it all over the outside of the manifold. Kind of strange I took it out and the whole thing looked black, but I could scrape the black off but it was difficult. I'll try it again but seems like it's eating the metal.

Goo Gone from Home Depot works great, smells like oranges and isn't flammable. I use it to strip silicone mold release from some finished carbon parts we make.
