OK. I've searched with no luck so let me start by saying if you read this and know of a thread that will help me please just give me a link to it. Here is the situation. My alternator died weeks ago so I replaced it. Since then my fuel pump won't come on (walbro). When you turn the key on you can here the pump trying to come on but there is no high pitched whine...just grunting. Everything is effected by the problem. My seat belt on the passenger side is off the track so when the door is opened it clicks but when the fuel pump is trying to come on for that 5 seconds the seat belt click slows and all gauges dim untill the pump stops and then everything goes back to normal. Battery and alternator are good. The car will crank but not start because no fuel. The only grounds I messed with with the motor swap include grounding the gauges to my CD player ground....wiring a DIF fan controlerto the coolant temp sensor + and ground...main battery ground to the intake mani. These are all grounds messed with...all others haven't been tampered with and look ok. Here is the strange thing. When we hook up another car with jumper cables everything works. I can't figure it out. Here are some voltage readings.

EGI relay contact 2 reads 10V (friends car reads 12)
contact 5 reads 10V (friends car reads 12)
EGI pump relay checks out fine
Battery 11.9V
Voltage at fuel pump 10V
Voltage at pump with friends car hooked up 13V

Again...if any of you know of another thread I haven't found please tell me. Thanks.

Wheres your battery and did you test your alternator to see if its charging. When your car is not cranking you should get higher than 12v. Do you have a solid ground to the alternator and to the battery.

Thats the thing. I can't find why I'm not getting the voltage. Alternator is charging and I took the grounds off and cleaned them then tightened them down firmly. All fuses are good. Nothing I can find is fried (alternator didn't surge when it died). I'm thinking of wiring the fuel pump to a switch straight to the battery but I don't know if that would fix all my problems (tach and temp gauge jumping when I have accessories such as flashers and headlights on)......or would it?

So any ideas on what would be limiting me to 10v at the pump and egi relay? I'm out of ideas.

Swap out the battery. You said you jumped it with another car and it worked fine. That's cause the other car gave you the 12+volts you needed. If this new battery ends up dieing also then you need to look at the alternator and your grounds again.

I hope its that simple.
