the consult was not used until 1991, I spent 2 hours trying to figure it out this evening on my girlfriends s13.

thats pretty much what i need to know, as long as i can figure which wires go where on the plug, then i can get a plug and wire it up. it would be better with a plug on the passengers side anyway.

thanks jason

my 89 hatch has it above the fuse panel in the driver side kick panel.
you can purchase a consult to usb wire from ebay and nissan datascan is out there somewhere on the interweb it may also come with the cable when purchased.

not to sound like a dick but if you dont know what you are doing why didnt you just send your harness out to be wired? only like a $100 and you wouldnt have to make this thread. mcuh less of a headache id imagine also.

its not a matter of not knowing what i am doing. i bought the car with the sr in it. the guy that had the car previously didnt kow what he was doing. when i got the car it ran like complete shit. i had to restab the cas, re time it, fix boost leaks, re solder all the connections, extend the mass wire, and re dress the whole wiring harness. now its just a matter of figuering out how to hook up the consult plug so i can datalogg. why pay $100 for that when i can get the info for free. and actualy i found what i needed to know here (http://forums.freshalloy.com/showthread.php?t=146052&highlight=consult+diagnostics+port). all i need is the plug now. dont chime in when you have no clue about whats going on or have no usefull info about the post.

It's five wires. If you've ever read an FSM (you haven't, or you wouldn't be asking this), or if you'd done a search on here (again you haven't, because I've answered this before), you'd know that.

Green, green/white, and green/black are the data wires for TX, RX, and CLK. Those match color to color on the ECU. Black wire is ground, and the remaining wire (varies in color by model) is ignition.
