Ok a few months ago i bought a 95 240sx with a very nice stereo already installed. Since i've owned it my start ups and idle rpms have been unstable. Any time i start my car i get one of three different startups.

Instant startup. 3 whirs and statup. lastly the worst; no power, barely crank and turn over, bogs my startup and since my KA still has the chain guides in its rattling like a mofo. The battery is brand new, i'm going to switch to a redtop when i can but i dont think its just the battery.

The stereo is older but beefy with a power cap. I'm not a stereo expert in the least, but i think the cap is apart of my problem aswell, who knows. I got a horrible ground in my car and i get double zapped everytime i get out.

If your getting zapped by your car then you have a ground somewheres. Check all your grounds and your wiring for your stereo. You probably just have some wire exposed and is grounding itself out on the chassis. You should fix it before it leads to bigger problems. You might also want to stop by and auto parts store and have them check to see if your alternator is charging. Its free and only takes a second. Hope that helps a little.

I wanna add that when i'm idling my idle is at 750ish then drops to about 600 for a sec, then bounces back up to 750 for a few secs. does this repeatedly when at normal operating temp.

i should also mention it doesnt matte wether its a cold startup or warm, it will do one of the 3, except it will be nicer more often when its warm.

can i upgrade my ignition to compensate for this? i got a ground kit on order, but the coil-on-plug is new to me so i'm not sure how to go about upgrading the ignition. I will search but anything anyone can add would be of great help.
