Did a search and didn't find anything but an ad. Is anyone using these gauges? I only need an oil pressure and boost gauge so I don't really want to go the whole daisy chain route, but I would like to stick with defi as they have a pretty good reputation. Just hoping these gauges live up to the name. Anyone have any experience with them? Better than autometer I'm assuming?

these are good gauges the difference is that the defi origanl gauges not the blue racer black out completely and don't require the defi link or controler to use and are a direct hookup to what ever your looking to measure.:bigok: hope it helps

these gauges are standalone and doesn't need a controller.

Like the other posters explain, this line of gauges were developed as a stand alone system as they should be. It was also an answer to a marketing problem Defi had when trying to appeal to the US market. I have had a full set of six meters for six months now. The only issue i have had with them is that the faces are plastic and scratch easily. And for about $200 per meter, you would expect them to be glass faces. :-/ Other than that, they work just fine.

Hmm yeah I had assumed they were glass. Anyone have thoughts on these compared to the greddy gauges in terms of accuracy and quality?

Thanks for the link to the install article by the way. I noticed this at the end though..

CONS: Sensors not included

E-gauges says "Includes 3-Way 4mm joint, 1.6' hose, Boost Sensor and Wire" for the boost gauge, and "Includes 1/8 BPT Sender, 1/8 BPT to NPT Adapter, Sensor and Power Wire" for the pressure gauge so I'm assuming they only meant for the temperature gauge?

Thanks for the input

well the main difference is of course the external controller. But what the controller does is you can play back over a certain amount of time. I think its like 3-4 minutes. And there are some warning features. But really who needs all that. The blue racer gauges are great for the money.

No these are pretty bare bones. I can datalog everything on my ems so I don't need those functions but I'd like to be able to see if I lose oil pressure asap without having to look at a laptop.:-/

if you're worried about reputation, you dont need to splurge. ive rocked vdo gauges for years, no problems.

shit, i still rock vdo gauges. not fancy, but they definitely do the job. i never tried autometer, but they are good from what ive heard. i just think they're too racer oriented. vdo obviously provides for OE supply, and their line of goods are fine.

autometer is honestly pretty crappy. ive had a few autometer boost gauges and you can never tell exactly what boost you are running, sticking needles, hooked up 2 gauges and they both read different, etc etc. skip autometer unless you are just crazy broke.

i have heard good things about vdo though in terms of budget gauges

I had an Auto Meter tach i was running but i pulled that out for a digital tach i am building with big ass display digits and a tunable tach light and high pitched beeper. Something small enough to mount on the windshield so i dont have to look away all the damn time. :rant2:

we put blue racers on a customer's car. they're a replacement for the d-gauge series. work the same but they're blue instead of orange and they go black when they're off.

i have the blue racer boost gauge in my car and i love it. no peak hold or warning function like already stated. my friend also has the boost and oil pressure gauge in his wrx he also loves his too. good gauges for the money. i also have mine setup to it dims when the lights go on. big + over the dim all the time autometers.
