I work at a dealer as a service adviser (im the nicest one there) and yesterday we needed to throw away boxes of warrenty parts, machines, and all these other good stuff. there was a wooden box under all that trash and so I took a hammer to open it to take a look at what was in it. when i opened it I saw a emblem of a snake on the complete red top motor with tranny, harness and ecu, I almost blacked out cause there was millions of things running threw my mind of what i could do with this motor. I ran to my boss and asked whose motor is this and why are you throwing it away? he said, "an ex employee of ours had a viper and got in a accident and took out the good parts out and sold it, and he left the motor here and no longer needs it." I asked him if i can have it since you guys were gonna throw it away anyways, mind as will just let me have it and put it to use..... he said its all yours just find a truck and take home after work and all you need is alternator and timing belt. so I have the motor at my house and i know it's worth alot of money. I was wondering if it is possible to fit that beast motor in my s13 coupe, the motor w/ tran is pretty long cause I saw alot of people wit ls1 motor in ther s13's, so what do i need to do to make it fit. I also know that I have to do alot of cutting and welding on the engine bay. Can you guys please help me out here? thanks......:eek: also please dont hate, im just ignorant....

It would be a cool thing to attempt, but like was already said, you would be pretty much on your own for figuring the finer points of the swap out (wiring will probably be your biggest pain I would think)

If an inline 6 fits front to back (RB, 2JZ), and a V6 fits side to side (VG, VQ, LS_). I don't see why it shouldn't fit. Although a V10 is a beast of a motor, you may have the next crazy S-chassis swap! It might be too much of a project to handle but I'm sure that has been said about previous hybrid swaps! The real question is: "Are YOU up to the challenge?":naughty:

I think you would have alot of fun working on it and learning alot about it, and doing alot of custom work to it and welding and fabing stuff up for it (if you know how to weld), but hey thats just me.

You got it for free, remember for free. no reason trying to sell it right away, hang on to it for a little while and then make a decision. Remember once its gone its gone haha.

a 72 240z is a 2350 pound car, a mid 72 240z is a 2750 lb car. They stopped making 240z's in 73 and went to 260z's for the 74 model year before going to 280z's in 75 . Bottom line of all of this is like what i stated previously the torque of a Viper V10 engine would rip a stock s chassis or HLS-30 chassis to shreds unless completely stich welded and caged. For the most part short of someone like Luke doing the install its the kind of engine install people start and never finish. Like I said and lots of other people have said he can sell it for big bucks and pretty much install any dream JDM engine or LS1 and it would make a lot more sense.
While the idea may sound cool the reality would be a pain. He stated he posted it on ebay and he is going to sell it. Thats a wise decision.

ok guys, like i said i work at a mits dealer as a service adviser and i do get paid big dough but my friends on zilvia will jump me for my atm card if i tell you my salary and the owner of the dealer owns and manages 9 other dealers, this guys plus my main boss are fucking ballin, they both have hot wifes. owner drives a maserati to work and has hella cars chilling at his garage, boss drives c5 corvette superchared hella other crap on it. so my boss became my best friend after a while, i take or took hime to drift compititions, crusin stuff like that, and he knows that the motor is worth that hella but he doesnt have time to sell other buy a shell and put the viper motor in. so he knows my situation that im working my ass off trying to built my car. so thats why he let me have it and there was a $30,000 smog computer that he threw that away. but anyways my boss doesnt know that i can do something this, putting a viper motor in my 240, so he said sell it and built your car, what i wanted to do is slap that motor in my 240 and sell that shit on worldwide ebay and buy a simple daily driver/drift machine and invest the rest. i like to keep it simple and not buy and brand new car like you evo/sti bastards. spend $4000 and my 240 would keep up with ur evo. anyways we all will grow up and would like to own a house of our own and use the garage for a mini shop..... so im sorry i wasted your time. i just wanted to know if its possible to fit that motor in the s13... and all those guys who want pictures, i will steal my boss's camera and post those pictures of the motor with that note...... i will also hire an asian stripper with. thanks for all your advice

Your asking price of over $10k is kinda high, theres been a few motorsets on ebay go for around $6.5k

Fitting it into a s-chasis is possible but it will take some work. The tranny is a different version of the borg warner 6 speed thats on ls1's so i know that will fit with just a little hammering to the tranny tunnel. And the shifter would be in a pretty good position, not in the back seat like someone said. That should place the engine around the same areas as an ls1. Take a look at an ls1 in a s-chasis then imagine the extra cylinders up front. You'd end up running into the radiator panel. So if you went with a partial tube frame front and new points to mount the radiator i'm sure it will fit. As far as wiring, it can't be too hard. The harness on american cars are extremely simple and theres plenty of companies that sell stand alone harnesses for under $1k

i you want a ka to build i have one that i snapped a connecting rod in with no damage to the block at all and a brand new tranny so if you want to have a beast of any motor your always better off building it yourself.

If an inline 6 fits front to back (RB, 2JZ), and a V6 fits side to side (VG, VQ, LS_). I don't see why it shouldn't fit. Although a V10 is a beast of a motor, you may have the next crazy S-chassis swap! It might be too much of a project to handle but I'm sure that has been said about previous hybrid swaps! Not possible unless ur willing to put that annual salary into this swap. I doubt this thing would even come close to fitting in the bay. The viper is basically a car built around the motor. Unless u hacked ur whole front end up and extended forward about a foot or two and increasing the front width by an equal amount, or u dont mind having a v10 sittin in ur lap or havin ur new driving position in the same place where ur back seats used to reside, it aint gonna happen. Think of the shit like tranny mounting engine mountin. Where is ur radiator gonna reside? Hoses, various lines. Resivoirs brake booster, and wut else there might be as u will have ( - ) room for anything. Buy a charger or cuda and drop this in or sell asap. Or u could keep it and turn it into a table and tell people ur dick is bigger cause u have a viper motor as a coffee table.
p.s. s13's suck anyways and arent deserving of even the slightest consideration of putting something like this beast into such a small little man's car. They ugly too.

apparently there's been quite a few changes to the viper engine over the years. looking through pics, some have the alternator nested between the throttle bodies, some have the alternator sitting under the passenger-side TB. Here's a pic of one with the same intake manifolds as the OP's picture (notice the 4 machined ridges as opposed to the 3 in the pic johngriff posted):

Well, I just looked under the hood of a Viper for myself (didn't have a camera though :( other guy from work needed to take it) .... but it has the 4 machined ridges on the valve covers like the OP's pics and pretty much matches everywhere else I can see as well. I would say the OP needs to take some better pics (IE: Open the damn crate all the way and get a full shot that INCLUDES the Viper stamping on the motor with proof of the date)... but I think this actually may be legit. I'm still a LITTLE skeptical, but I'm begining to think this guy may have the best find/giveaway I've heard of in a LONG time.

I would say while looking like it might be for real, there is probably a problem with that engine. Just because its a engine sitting in a Crated box does not mean its a running viable engine. good point, but a dealership full of a bunch of car nerds doesn't have a viper motor sitting for giveaway. Like I said earlier, the engine may be there in person to write a sign and stick on it to take some pictures, but I highly doubt it would be given away.

However, assuming you aren't totally full of shit, dropping that motor into an S13 could be possible, but EVERYTHING would need to be fabricated from scratch and it would cost a shit ton. Not to mention you'd have to strengthen the entire body by stitch welding and bracing or it would just rip the car in half.

yea my friends were right about zilvia.... they said that the admins are are dicks, but i tried backing you guys up.. in this case they were right..... also i came up with a camera to take better pics and video's.. another thing again like i said i asked if its possible to swap a viper motor in a s13... ok? even if i didnt have a viper motor which i do, haha. i asked if it fits or not, if it did then later on when i take a week off and try to swap it the motor and post a timeline picture thread, and even if i did do the swap, some of you guys would be like, "that shit is hella photoshopped and that intake is cropped out and shit." and i do have the money to do whatever swap i want, now that i have a viper motor i have a advantage.... and thanks for the ppl that back me up and you know who you are. usually people who are closed minded are the ones always talking shit. ummm i will post it up on craigslist and ebay..... i am still not shure yet cause i dont have time to make up my mind. oh yea i wasnt gonna tell anybody that i had a viper motor until my friend that works with me snitched me out. i was gonna suprise everybody, but the news was out before i posted it on zilvia, also yes i know i spelled proof wrong. it was hella hot and i couldnt think and i didnt know why i put that smiley face on....... and for those people that think this is someone elses motor, believe me i have alot of close friends that will be backstabbers and say that this isnt my motor, seems like they having seen this 7 page thread yet, i dunno. shit my internet is hella slow today thats why i wrote an essay on one messege, didnt want to keep posting it and type with one breath. please for those english teachers, please correct my spelling if i misspeelededededit.... imma sleep now goodnight and dont let the bedbugs bite cause they bet me last night....

Dude if you expect to continue to be apart of the Zilvia community you need to grow thicker skin or find another damn 240 forum to sell your bullshit to. If you didnt want to cause such a dramatic reaction you should of said something like: I thought it would be cool to put a viper engine in an s chassis is it possible? Or has anyone ever seen a viper enging in an s chassis, is it possible?
You say all this stuff, dissapear, re-appear with a few pics and wonder why everyone is questioning it. This place isnt for show boating or gloating. Its to get technical help, share the wealth of your knowledge and sit back and bullshit. There is no need to try to walk in your first day and try to oooh and aaah everyone.

P.S.-Most of the Zilvians are assholes, thats why we all like this forum.
