awesome, dude! I'm getting my first welder soon, as well. I'm going with the Millermatic 210 MIG. Where did you get your welder?

what kind of work will you be doing with it, if you dont mind me asking?

Niice. I've really only seen one tig welder, does that one have the finger control for power? Or does it have the foot pedal?

Yes it is from sam's club, Great price for a good hoist, used it plenty of times, not all on my car of course but using it on others, and so far no sign of the hydraulic going out. I also use there jack, and the (small stool chair with wheels great for a lazy person like me that likes to sit around alot)
Thanks for the input peeps!!
So far i havent got to use it yet, cause i still need to make an electrical outlet for it and need to buy an argon cylinder tank.
I did go to welding school for a year, its over now, but it was alot of fun and great experience. The machine i used was the lincoln precision tig 275, which is a way more pricey machine than mine. I think the reason why i got the lincoln instead of a miller is cause, thats what i was tought on, but i did use a miller syncrowave too(didnt really notice the difference between the two). The one i have uses a foot pedal instead of the finger controlled one.
Thanks for the websites mellow88.
Ive been going to Weldingweb.com for alot of help and researching. Great place,

Cool I'll have to check that place out :)
What welding class did you take, something at the local CC? I've been thinking of signing up for some welding classes at CCSN just for fun.
what kind of work will you be doing with it, if you dont mind me asking?
I'm going to attempt to do some body work and maybe some light fabrication.
Did you ever do gas welding? The welding class I took started me off with oxyacetylene. Took me awhile to get the feel for it. I pretty much did gas welding for the entire semester. Last day of class was when I actually got to do MIG. Shit was so easy! I was like "wtf! fuck gas welding!"

where i live, the school is called francis tuttle (vo-tech). I would have gone 2 years ,but i started late, I didnt have to pay because i was a high school student, free for students, i was a senior, now im graduated and going to college.
I certified in stick welding (smaw) and went to do tig welding (gtaw), didnt get a certification in it(I should of, but wasnt really necessary to me, if i wanted to get a job, stick welding is the best paying money where i live around here) , I did do mig for a little bit, was to easy, doesnt require that much of a skill level as of tig, i think, so i didnt spend much time on it. Dumb of me though, spent most of my time on tig, yet i didnt try to get certified. oh well.

hello again,
Did one of my first projects with my new tig machine, other than making the table, i made a oil ventilation box. I had a few days off work so i decided to make something.
My welds didnt turn out looking pretty because of the aluminum plating i used was different from the 6061 plating which is a better quality of aluminum and it was thinner than im used to welding on which is 1/8 of a inch plating. I used this because i didnt want to go to the store , so i cut up an aluminum battery box i bought on ebay along time ago. It still worked out great.
I really noticed a difference once i put this on my car and started it up, and gave it some reving. My engine sounds a little lower pitch and can really here it breathe. I havent got a chance to take it for a drive yet, cause of my E Fan doesnt work, But i really doubt there is a difference in the power, just for ventilation.
In the pictures it looks like its sitting on top of the heat shield, but its not, there is a gap. Im going to make a bracket so it'll bolt on to the head, but i got a little tired today and plus its already stiff enough, but just to make sure its stable.

ill make me a better one later on, but this will do for now and its way better than the small stock POS one.
