Every time I used sealant it some how caused me problems. I stopped using it and never had any leaks or problems without it.

Eh if SR, yes, just use some silicon stuff you get from Kragen. Even on KA its suggested. Like he permatex orange silicon sealant. Its FSM Recommended

I used permatex ultra grey, it isnt as ugly as that red stuff and is oem equivalent.

You're supposed to put sealant (RTV or equivalant) on the part of the gasket that is a half moon ( for the cam holes ). FSM recommends it.

no if u use to much it wont seal/fit right....if u do, use a very thin line...

Just use a very small amount of RTV on it. I did with mine, and it worked just fine. It would probably be OK without, but I've never tried.

I barely used any sealant, just put some pea sized drops and spread to a thin film with you finger.

I know you dont even need it but i put some on the areas were it was leaking previously just to be sure it doesnt leak.

I use RTV on the head to allow the gasket to stay put, So removing/installing the valve cover is less of a hassle.(Very thin layer)

Oh, and make sure you dont put it all the way around because what will happen is that the excess will just come off the gasket and fall into the head. I know on my old ka, the guy had even put rtv on the spark plug gasket... Brutal.
