View Full Version : Should be an easy alarm question...

I am having a tough time finding related threads RE: alarm issues. This one is almost what I need.

http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=139482&highlight=alarm

My question: In my 95 w/sr, the alarm goes off randomly in the middle of the night. When I did the sr swap I disconnected the horn, but when I come out sometimes in the morning there is a "clicking" sound coming from the front bumper.

I guess its the alarm trying to power the lights and the horn.

How can I disconnect the alarm and disable it, so it stops killing my battery? The thread above talks of a unit near the hood pop lever inside the cabin? Is there another fuse/relay I can pull to disable the alarm for good?

Thanks in advance.

i believe you defiantely have a bad ground wire

Could be a bunch of things. Sounds like you've got a shock sensor going off, I'd look for the alarm box, and check your steering column or dash support for a shock sensor, and unplug that.

Some rats in your car maybe, J/K. Maybe someone trying to steal it and see if you wake up too.

Check the shock sensor for the alarm like jordan said, might just be too sensible. If it is you should be able to adjust it and test it. Alarms are always good, if you can don't take it off, fix it.

I love when you fucktards throw out useless shit.

The OE alarm does NOT have an impact/shock sensor, period. It trips on point of entry only.

Ground the disarm wire at the trunk or either door key cylinder, done. IIRC it's green/black, but don't quote me. The common issue on the OE alarm is the hoodpin tripping, check and see first if the rubber stopper on the hood that depresses it is deformed or missing. The hoodpin is right by the battery, mounted on the fender apron.

If it's an aftermarket alarm, remove it entirely.

To further alleviate, open the trunk and you'll see a 2pin plug on the underside near the 3rd brakelight, one black wire and the other green/black (I think, I'm not near a car), that's the disarm switch for the trunk cylinder when you open it with the key. Connect those two together, that will permanently disarm the alarm. The same switch is in either door but the trunk is easier to access.

Aight, so scrap the grounding idea and just connect the two wires...

Got it, Thanks again!
