my friend was searching on craigslist and he called me and told me i was buying a sr for $250, come to find out its only the block and head. i can get the intake mani and exhaust mani for $80 from a friend. im just wondering if its a good deal or not
this is what the seller said
This is an incomplete sr20det engine. It is a block and head (no manifolds or turbo included). the motor is in great shape, has about 30-40,000 miles on it. I bought it needing the bolt-ons. It is a great foundation to a very powerful car. This is the redtop motor out of a s13 from japan, will work in alot of Nissan vehicles; Sentra Se-r; 200sx; 240sx and so on. I am asking $250 or best offer.

250 for a block and head is a good deal, but you should look at it first before buying it, need to know the condition of it, anyone can say it great, and powerful...
My cousin bought a block and head from some company awhile back and when we received it , it was in sheit condition, i took the crankshaft in to get repolished and it was warped, rod journal #1 was really burnt up bad, the bearings in it was crap, the cams on it were worn pretty bad, and i cant remember but i think there was something wrong with the actual head itself.
This was the same place i bought my sr in my car from, and its in Great condition and runs nice and healthy.
But if you do buy it and turns out great, i would consider getting the crank micro polished and new bearings, put a new head gasket on and etc..... Update it.
just trying to save you from doing the same mistake my cousin did.

Do you already have an SR in your car? If your buying this with the idea of putting it together and piecing parts to do a swap for the first time, itll be alot more expensive in the long run. But if its a backup engine for what you already have, then yah go for it. Blocks usually go for $500. The only thing is if the engine is fubar, then your usually assed out.

Is it a complete block and head? If it's stripped down it's not worth it..

I got a full motor set minus the ecu with a full silvia conversion for 400. the head is seperated from the block, but this is a build engine and everything was in good condition but all the internals will be reworked.
it's like I got a silvia front end for half off with a free motor thrown in.
good luck on the build man!
