As some of you may know, TAB tuesday made the local SGV Tribune, if you havnt already read it, you can find it here

http://www.sgvtribune.com/news/ci_6078039

as you can see, we're portrayed as underage drunk street racers
partaking in "illegal activities"...we have spoken to the writer of
the article, and have invited him and a video crew to attend our meet next week, he is VERY interested to find the truth about how
we conduct this meet...

i know some of you are scared because of the attention we're recieving from the cops, but maybe if we can get the truth out there, we can keep the meet going strong and not let them profile the people actually trying to have a good time at TAB as "STREET RACERS"

lets give him a good turn out...even if you have to bring your moms stock car....let speak our mind and let them know what were really here for...see you next week

TAB used to be a good meet back in the day. I used to be a regular at TAB meets for 3 years running now. But lately I haven't been going due to cop troubles, and lack of friends going. But I'll be willing to support the cause when needed.

So what happens when the "video crew" follows the people that actually race on grand and valley and all the other local spots? Its going to make it worse for everyone..

I've been there!!!! I actually was cruising around with my cousin to see if they would try to pop my hood with me having Kansas plates. lol

I saw a nice green s14 and gold gram lights there too. Didn't talk to him though. =P

Sucks that they're full of shit about street racing. The time I was there, no one was racing and they were just pulling people over when they left the parking lot. This one Accord was on airbags and the cop that had pulled him over was going to measure how low it was from the headlight and the guy popped up the car. I almost dropped to the ground laughing.

That last quote is sooooo bullshit. They try to make it sound like the people are openly gathering and doing crack. WTF? I honestly don't understand some of the rules you guys have in Cali.

i had written the person who wrote that article in the tribune, and also had given him a call, we were talking during last week and he agreed to come out tonight to TAB and see for himself first hand...the supposed "street racing" and "illegal activities"...

we've been pretty vocal about the situation online like myspace and other forums, and apprently the cops have been monitoring whats being said and about the paper coming out and a couple other video crews from the media, and sure enough cop presence was down 80% from last week.

i heard of a few people getting pulled over, but no cops going through the parking lot like last week. in my opinion i think the police didnt come out this week because of the media presence, they didnt want them to find out the truth about the profiling and harassment...but its good to know that with a little push, and cooperation from fellow enthusiasts, that we can have our voices heard in a positive way to keep a positive thing going strong for over 5 years now

When I was at TAB there were 2 cops continuously going through the parking lot and a few more randomly passing by all the time.

maybe 2 months ago, my friend was pulled over 2 times withen 2 blocks after we left tab.. his car was askin for it tho, no exhuast but still the situation way the cop pulled him over pissed me off soo bad, becuase we where cruisin down nogalas and I was right behind him, and cop basically comes past me like tryin to push me off the road to get to him and pull him over..

Im 23 now, I rarely go to TAB, but i can feel your pain about media portraying.. I miss the car scene when it was all fun and innocent, now we gotta worry about cops.

ok i jus read the article.. tahts stupid... first off, "The police impounded seven cars, made two arrests on outstanding warrants, and one arrest for driving under the influence, police said." ok those asshole people deserve that shit.
thats like busting some sports players for using steroids then saying the whole game is wrong.

and then teh part about street racing, who the hell street races in a parking lot?? all the bad shit happens outside of tab, not directly in tab itself..

Last i remember, TAB was a safe environment, no worries about any violence etc.. everyone gets along..

Last time i was there tho, I like the side thats in front of Ice SCream or wahtever that shop is called, everything is nice there... I went to the otherside of the street where the taco bell is, and thought that meet was kinda crappy I would patrol that shit too if i was a cop.

OIC, yeah, that's probably why I never really noticed your car. It's usually not there, lol. I used to roll with the Touge Pirates/ Knight Stalkers way back when. I'll roll in next week with my Z32.

Who wants to hang out late at night in a parking lot full of hormonal teens anyways?
I kid, large meets for the most part suck though.

A friend of mine said that new reports hang out at tabs and call the cops when there are lot of cars so when everyone runs they get live action footage.

heard from ron there was a flurry of "strange events" going on in walnut this past TAB.

NO cops showed up. An abundance of american muscle cars the NEVER come to the meet......street racing.....apparent street racing accident, 2 RHD R32 skylines getting pulled over and then seen driving somewhere later on.....

i smell something fishy..

"The police asked group members to open their hoods, claiming probable cause of criminal activity, so they could inspect the engines for illegal modifications."

By that reasoning they could accuse you of anything. That is like warranting a search of your computer, because you have internet, and probably will hack a bank. I would just move the meet, so that you can leave w/o driving through that area.

s14dude
06-15-2007, 01:42 PM
yes the meet will still continue...we are currently seeking new locations.

I believe TAB has been moved what, 2-3 times already. Each time it gets worse. i remember when we used to be over by Starbuck by Valley and Grand and cops were literally walking through the lot giving out BS tickets (ex: no front plate) I'll be there though. I'll keep the backfiring off for the meet though.

^ i used to go to TAB when it was there. those were some of its better days i think, before people started being dicks and messing around in the parking lot. and then it got moved to i-Scream. it was cool for a while there because people chilled out, then the BS started again. i kinda stopped going after that. it's always 1 or 2 assclowns that ruin it for everyone

Forreals. I used to show up back in the days of the TougePirates. Hang out with everyone, then meet up and go for a quick run up GMR. The good old days before cops started coming down on us. Then it moved to I-Scream. Pretty good location but parking was horrible. And all it took was one Integra to do a burnout for us to go bye-bye and back to Starbucks to even more drama with the cops. Aye...
