Ok, so I just got my car. I got it really cheap, but it needs some work.
It's an SE, so the speedometer is digital, but it doesn't work.
My question is:
Can I replace the instrument cluster with one from a non-SE car?
I.E. Can I replace the digital speedometer with an analog one and have it work?

not all "SE's" come with the digital HUD (heads up display) its only the 89-90 240sx's...and yes you can replace it with a analog but you will need the wiring harness for it also.

Thank you. It's actually a '91 SE, but it has the HUD.

HUD was a coupe only option on all 89-93 models with the SE package, but most do not have it. Use the matching subharness and it's a direct swap.
And we have a search function that works, you just have to actually use it.

Ok, I tried taking out the cluster, but the bezel wouldn't come off. Do I need to remove the entire dashboard to get it off?

Again, have you bothered to search? The entire FSM is even available online for free downloading, but on top of that there's numerous threads detailing cluster and bezel removal. It's a five minute process.
You're fast becoming an annoyance.

I'm sorry, I hadn't refreshed before I posted, so I didn't see your post about searching.
I searched and found out I need to drop the steering column.
Thank you, and Rep+ for you.

If only other members could do that, we'd have it made. Congrats on the quick learn.

Hey, no problem.
This entire process is actually a learning process for me, I'm good with engines, but that's about it...
My friend has a '90 240sx hatch and and he's coming over to help me out tomorrow. I'll keep you all updated on the gauges...
