I got a chance to get a hotshot header for my s14 for about 80$. I know sounds like a good deal, but no gaskets are included. Plus I read something about not being able to get the 02 sensor in hotshot headers cause of the firewall. Also is there a problem with egr lining up?
How much of a concern are these three issues.
Thanks for any replies!

gaskets are easy to come by, the hotshot ones suck anyway. (i have two for sale, a stock replacement and a mr. gasket copperseal). i have some 2.5" two hole gaskets too if you want. they are pretty hard to come by it seems. PM me if you're interested.
the EGR is a pain in the ass, but more so because the old one is probably rusted to the old manifold. you might want to just buy a new EGR pipe (about $45 from the dealer) or just block it. the pipe can be bent somewhat easily to get it to line up if you're having issues.
i haven't messed with the O2 sensor much in my car, but i don't remember ever having the slightest problem with it.

Oh okay. As far as the o2, I just heard it's hard to screw in the header cause it's a tight fit because of the firewall being so close.
I read alot about obx egr not lining up so thats why I crossed them off lol.

I had a hotshot header on my s14 when it was a ka. I had no problems with it except for the egr not lining up. I got it as close as i could and then used that Muffler tape to make sure there was no leak and it worked perfect. looked ghetto as hell, but nothing a little header wrap wont cover up:) 80 bucks...well worth it. I do reccomend header wrap,,, it almost completely eliminated the 'tinny' sound of the header.

What about cracking, after some reading I found occassions where it happened.
If you bend the egr pie from the header to fit the egr tube, will it probably crack then. I'm hoping theres away to work this out with out it looking ghetto. Not that I have a show car, but just like ot have a clean setup. If get the header, I plan on taking to a shop anyway so I can get a high flow cat, so maybe they can come up with something too.

i have it on my sohc and i didnt have a problem with the O2 at all. i also had the egr pipe not line. just bent it (the pipe from the motor, not the header) enough to where i could screw it on and by now it probably just formed that way. but then again i'm not sure(and am to lazy to find out) the exact difference from single and dual right now. i used stock gaskets and it is wrapped as well. a good amount of heat will be coming off those things. if you go to a muffler shop they charge like 150-200 bucks to put on headers, not worth it IMO. i say do it yourself working on cars isnt easy. but if you dont really feel comfortable and dont trust youself putting it on, have someone do it.

I liked my hotshot, worked great, good power increas and fitment was fine. mine had been previously modified though the lower flange had been redone (not sure why I got it used) other than that o2 fit fine and I didnt run egr so no idea on that issue. get it, great price and enjoy them!

Hmm well I dunno kinda rather go to a shop cause they would be better at detecting leaks..also want to get a high flow cat put on like I said.
If i remember correctly shop I plan on going to only charged me 45$ to put my used catback on, which didn't come with gaskets or bolts. They included that with the price.

UH crap....waited to late and guy sold the header.
So I guess the question now is dc sports or obx?

the metal is pretty soft, it won't crack unless you bend it really far (good luck doing that inside the engine bay). i had to bend mine quite a bit (long story) and it was fine.
leaks aren't as important on a NA setup as they are on a turbo. at most it will be noisier and ruin the gaskets. the cat should be pretty easy, i don't see any reason not to do it yourself. as long as you torque the parts down properly you should be fine.

Yeah thanks. Forgot to mentioned what happened. Basically header was on ebay, but I was unsure whether or not I wanted to buy it. I originally was outbided. Bids got up to like $150 but seller backed out. So I was offered second chance. My bid was 29 and shipping was like 50. Long story short I waited to late.
So I guess I only can chose from obx or dc sports. Dc sports price is what gets me.

i would go with dc sports over obx. dc sports is of better quality. you should really check stuff out for yourself honestly, but i will give you some info to go on. dc is/pending carb exemp, is ceramic coated, and the design of the headers is better. obx is stainless steel, not carb exempt, and the design is crappy, mainly refering to how they made the 4th cylinder tunnel tube thing meet up with the 1st cylinder one at the top instead of more toward the bottom. but that is my own perception. heres the dc website and an ebay link to obx because the obx website is down http://www.dcsports.com/ViewProduct.aspx?ProductID=615

seriously in the end you have to make your own decision, its your car, your time, and your money...so do it to your liking.

i have a s14 model dc header...and that shit is that bomb...
there was no problem installing it...egr fit perfectly...
it only took about 10-15 min install...and 20-25 min to take off the header becuz of the rusted nuts...
you can really tell the different...
the power kick in fast...
about 4000 rpm that shit start kicking in first gear...
i would recommend the dc header...
let me tell u a story...
me and my friend have the same 98 240sx...
all i have was the dc header and a k&N Filter..
my friend have an aem intake a hotshot header...
and all the rest is stock....
we were on the street..doing 35mph....side by side
with the count to 3 we took off...i won the race
his front bumper was by my rear tire....
i was surprise...so to my experience..
dc sport all the way...
i took my car to dyno too...
bone stock was 128hp and 136torque
with dc header no k&n fiter 136hp to 143torque..
so u see...8hp increase and 7hp in torque...
yeah...dc are expensive...
hey...like the saying said buy something that worth your money...or something similar to that...
so...there u go...
