Im going to put a kid on my 240sx in the next couple months and im going to get a paint job, not sure if im going to do everything like in the doors and all, but depends on how much more it costs, and when i swap the motor later on ill do the there the same color. Is it easy to fix up some bad rust before they paint it or is it better leaving that all to them? I heard its expensive. :hs:

ayaiyaiyai...

Please do a little more research on other websites regarding the issue you are seeking an answer for.

Don't put a "kid" on your car, that is not very nice.

Let the body shop fix the rust and expect to pay thousands for everything.

first off dont half ass anything...if you cant afford to paint the door jams and stuff like that then dont paint, just save your money untill you can get the real deal. As for rust, I guess it all just depends on how bad the rust is and where it is. If you have no experience with body work I wouldnt recommend trying to fix it yourself, you dont need a body kit and you dont need paint, you just want it....so save your money and have it done right

Learn to paint yourself, find a bodyshop willing to fix the rust so it's ready for paint, rent a gun, buy some paint, rent a booth and your set. I have lots of friends who have done there own paint jobs, after some practice, and they all came out really decent considering the money saved. 90% of people don't notice anyway. Just don't fix rust yourself, if you don't have experience and the proper equipment you'll likely not fix it right or get it all and it will come out like shit and/or come back again quickly.

Definately have a shop do the rust repair if your asking this kind of question.
I remember some kid around my neighborhood tried to "fix" the rust on his car himself and it wound up coming back through like 7 months later, so just do it right the first time so you wont have to go and do it all over again, cause in the long run your just spending more money
