Replace the bushings in the front of the carrier and get the shorter bolts that hold in place.
I bought ES diff carrier bushings (easy to install) and OEM bolts from the dealership. Don't forget the washers when installing the bolts.
Other than that, intall is the same as the removal.

if you have ABS you need an ABS diff
he's lying, nobody has ever done it before

S13 differentials don't have bushings in the front, its metal w/ mounting holes. I don't have the part #, but you can search one of my old threads as I did this swap (well J30 VLSD to S13).
I also had no problem w/ my current non-ABS driveshaft. The extra 1/2" or so in the front for the ABS sensor (mine is still in, wires just cut) is negated by the fact that you use the S13 rear cover which is not as deep -- its easier to explain w/ pictures, but you'll see when you swap covers.
Washers are just because the bolt heads seem "small" compared to the differential hole. Just put 'em on both sides of the mounting holes and your'e set.

if hes putting s14 diff, he'll need longer bolts, not shorter.
